$25,000 Jeep EV Will Be Offered In America Soon

  • Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares has revealed plans to offer a $25,000 Jeep EV in the United States.
  • The model is apparently coming “very soon,” but there’s no word on when.
  • Jeep wants to replicate the success of the Citroen e-C3 with its affordable EV.

After years of moving upmarket, Jeep finds itself at an uncomfortable crossroads as U.S. sales have plummeted from 973,227 units in 2018 to a mere 641,166 units last year. That’s a seismic shift, especially considering the continued popularity of crossovers and SUVs.

}
else{

} });

Part of that drop can be blamed on a lack of affordable vehicles, but Jeep has been working to address that. It appears even more effort is going on behind the scenes as Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares has revealed a $25,000 Jeep EV will be offered in the United States “very soon.”

Tavares didn’t say much about the model, but CNBC reports it’s designed to mimic the success of the Citroen e-C3.  That particular sub-compact model starts at €23,300 ($25,165) in France and features a 111 hp (83 kW / 113 PS) electric motor as well as a 44 kWh battery pack that delivers a WLTP range of 199 miles (320 km).

Speaking at an investor conference, Tavares talked up affordability and said, “If you ask me what is an affordable BEV, I would say €20,000 in Europe and $25,000 in the U.S. So our job is to bring the safe, clean and affordable BEV to the U.S., $25,000. We’ll do it.”

 $25,000 Jeep EV Will Be Offered In America Soon

Jeep Recon

There’s no timeframe on when the model will arrive, but Jeep is gearing up to introduce the Wagoneer S on Thursday, May 30. It’s slated to be followed by the Recon later this year, which will offer removable doors and a one-touch “powertop” as well as “true trail-rated capability.”

The $25,000 EV will presumably follow after that, although not much else is certain at this point. That being said, it doesn’t sound like Jeep will offer the Avenger in America as the company has previously suggested the model was designed for Europe as well as markets such as Japan and South Korea.
