The Panamera driver was cited for speeding over 100 MPH and failing to provide insurance

- A Porsche Panamera driver was caught speeding at 167 MPH in a 70 MPH zone.
- The incident occurred last month and netted the driver over $2,700 in fines.
- The driver was cited for speeding over 100 MPH and failing to provide insurance.
A Porsche speeding along at 167 mph (269 km/h) wouldn’t raise much of an eyebrow on the Autobahn, but it’s a shocking number elsewhere. That’s especially true of California, but this didn’t stop one Panamera driver from doing more than twice the speed limit.
According to the California Highway Patrol, an officer was on duty on April 29 when a 2022 Panamera flew past him at around 7:00 PM local time. Despite being in a 70 mph (113 km/h) zone, the car was allegedly traveling at speeds of up to 167 mph (269 km/h).

The agency described that as a “recipe for danger” and a traffic stop was initiated. The male driver was cited for speeding in excess of 100 mph (161 km/h) and failing to provide proof of insurance.
The California Highway Patrol said there’s “never a reason to drive 100 mph (161 km/h)” and noted “unsafe speeds kill.” They added luckily, no one was hurt.

According to the Shouse Law Group, the speeding ticket is punishable by up to $1,000 in fines, two points on the driver’s record, and possible license suspension for up to 30 days. Likewise, the California Vehicle Code suggests failure to provide proof of financial responsibility can result in fines of up to $500 and loss of your driver’s license.
However, it appears other factors could be at play as the Highway Patrol said the driver is facing a costly fine of over $2,700. That’s a whopper of a ticket, but something tells us the driver can likely afford it.
