Mercedes Celebrates Brad Pitt’s F1 Film With Limited Edition AMG GT

  • Pricing details for the black and gold model have yet to be announced.
  • The special edition is powered by AMG’s 585 hp 4.0-litertwin-turbo V8.
  • The cabin of the GT is bathed in black with gold accents and stitching.

In June, Brad Pitt’s long-awaited F1 film will hit cinemas, and to celebrate its impending release, Mercedes has unveiled a limited-edition version of the AMG GT. Known as the APXGP Edition, the car will be capped at just 52 units worldwide and has a special black and gold finish, similar to the racing cars used by the fictitious APXGP F1 team from the film.

});

The special version of the Mercedes coupe is based on the GT 63 4Matic+, meaning it is powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 with 585 hp. Its most distinctive feature is a matte black paint finish contrasted with heaps of gold accents.

The most prominent is the golden outline of the blacked-out grille. This theme continues on the front quarter panels with gold stripes running along the length of the doors. The rear half of the bodywork has a black and dark grey pattern, while the 21-inch alloys are finished in (no points for guessing…) gold.

Mercedes has also equipped the APXGP Edition with the AMG Exterior Carbon Fiber package, the AMG Aerodynamics package that adds a fixed rear wing, and the AMG Night Package II with several black elements.

The APXGP-inspired parts adorn the cabin as well. The AMG Performance seats have gold stitching and there are gold elements on the steering wheel, instrument panel, air vents and center console. Merc’s sports car also rocks a Burmester 3D audio system with 15 speakers, ambient lighting, and a ‘Limited Edition 1 of 52’ badge.

While all current F1 teams are featured in the film, Mercedes-AMG loaned an SL, a G-Class, and a GT for use on the big screen. Former Mercedes-AMG driver Lewis Hamilton, who has since moved to Ferrari, is a co-producer of the movie.

Mercedes has not confirmed pricing for the limited-run AMG GT APXGP Edition, nor has it disclosed which markets will receive an allocation.
