BMW owns the spotlight on Lake Cuomo in Italy for the Villa d’Este with a swanky 8 Series-based Speedtop Concept and a new 2026 version of the M2 CS, but there’s a new marque in attendance that you should turn your attention to. We’re talking about Bovensiepen and its first offering, the Zagato, which is based on the BMW M4 Convertible.
And yes, if those two names sound familiar, that’s because Bovensiepen is a brain-child of Alpina’s founder, with the help of the famed coachbuilder Zagato. Specifically, Andreas and Florian Bovensiepen, sons of the late Bukard Bovensiepen, spearheaded the company, now that Alpina has been fully absorbed by BMW as an in-house tuning arm.
Zagato’s Styling For A Head-Turning, Exotic Coupe
The Bovensiepen Zagato mostly retains the BMW M4 Convertible’s form, though the company chose the Italian design house’s signature double bubble roof for its build. Most of the panels have been reworked, mostly made from carbon fiber. The kidney grille has been replaced with a CNC-machined stainless steel grille with a honeycomb pattern. Other exterior highlights include the set of 20-inch forged aluminum wheels and the reformed trunk lid to look like a ducktail spoiler.

Only 19 of these machines will ever be made – and two of them belong to the makers of the most exhilarating cars on the planet.
Inside, the Bovensiepen Zagato retains most of the Bimmer’s interior layout. The company worked on redoing the upholstery with high-end Lavalina leather, which can be combined with Alcantara. Over 130 hours were spent in the cabin alone, customizable in 16 standard colors. However, customers can opt for a unique hue according to their desires through the Bovensiepen Bespoke program.
More Power Than The Regular M4
Bovensiepen didn’t specify which engine is found inside the hood, though we know it’s a twin-turbo 3.0-liter straight-six, presumably an S58 from the donor car. However, output has been amplified to 602 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque, good for a 0-62 mph sprint of 3.3 seconds with a top speed of over 186 mph. Other performance bits include Bilstein Damptronic dampers and a lightweight titanium exhaust system by Akrapovič.

The Doppiacoda is rumored to be a one-off sports coupe, designed by Zagato and based on the 8C Competizione
The newly minted marque will reveal the pricing for the Zagato and its production limit toward the end of the year. Deliveries, however, will begin in the second quarter of 2026. It’s almost guaranteed that it will be much more expensive than the donor M4 Convertible, or even Alpina’s creations, given the expensive materials used and the 250 hours spent to complete the overall transformation of this now-exotic coupe.
