Only 80 Of These Mercedes DTM Convertibles Were Ever Sold To The Public

  • Just 80 examples of the Mercedes-Benz CLK AMG DTM Convertible were built.
  • Power comes from a 5.4-liter supercharged V8 with 582 hp and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm).
  • This example has lived in Germany and South Korea before returning to Europe.

If you’re anything like us, the idea of falling asleep while dreaming about an ordinary Mercedes-Benz CLK probably doesn’t top your list. But let’s not be too hasty in dismissing the CLK-Class entirely as it did give birth to some incredible performance variants, like the CLK-GTR, CLK 63 AMG Black Series, and the CLK DTM .

adpushup.que.push(function() {

} else {

}
});

Next month, one of these CLK DTM models is hitting the auction block, and it’s expected to fetch between €450,000 and €550,000 (equal to $512,000 and $627,000 at current exchange rates).

The CLK DTM is far from your standard CLK, and it’s definitely crazier than even the CLK 63 Black. Built to commemorate Mercedes-Benz’s triumph in the 2003 DTM season, only 100 road-legal Coupes and 80 convertibles were made. When it first debuted, the CLK AMG DTM Convertible was the fastest four-seat convertible on the market, and it has since become a sought-after collector’s item.

A Performance Legend in Disguise

The bold bodywork immediately makes the CLK AMG DTM stand out from a regular CLK, featuring flared front and rear wheel arches, upgraded fascias, and sits on unique 19-inch and 20-inch wheels. It also has a fixed rear spoiler and distinctive twin exhausts.

This particular DTM Convertible was delivered new in Germany in 2006 before being exported to South Korea and displayed in a museum. It’s been living back in Europe since 2016 and currently has less than 22,000 km (~13,600 miles) under its belt. Painted in Obsidian Black, this beast was AMG at its finest, and there’s unlikely to ever be another car quite like it.

Step inside, and it becomes even clearer how uncompromising the DTM is in its pursuit of performance. Up front, it rocks a set of lighweight, fixed-back carbon fiber racing seats trimmed in leather and blue Alcantara. As for the rear seats? Well, they’re pretty much nonexistent. AMG opted for a simple Alcantara cushion on the carbon fiber rear bulkhead, saving weight and making the car even more track-focused.

Beneath all that aggressive bodywork is a 5.4-liter supercharged V8 engine, capable of cranking out 582 hp and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm) of torque. This is a car that can go from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 4 seconds, with a top speed of more than 186 mph (300 km/h).

});

Broad Arrow Auctions will be offering this spectacular machine for sale on May 25. If you think you’ve got what it takes to own a piece of German history, you can check out the listing here and place your bid. Opportunities like this don’t come around often.
