Aston Martin Valkyrie LM Revealed

Ahead of the 24 Hours of Le Mans and Aston Martin’s return to the iconic race, the British brand has unveiled what could be one of the most special limited edition models ever. Dubbed the Aston Martin Valkyrie LM, only 10 buyers will have the opportunity to own it, and it won’t even have 700 horsepower. Compared to the standard 1,160 hp offered by the normal Valkyrie, that may seem like a rip-off, but the Valkyrie LM is no ordinary Valkyrie hypercar; it’s an equivalent to the Valkyrie Hypercar competing at Le Mans, right down to the lean-burning, power-limited version of the Cosworth V12 engine.

For 10 lucky owners, they’ll be able to say they own the only road-derived hypercar in the WEC.

Lean-Burning V12 Engine Matches The Racecar To The Horsepower

At the heart of the Valkyrie LM is the same Cosworth 6.5-liter V12 engine as both the race car and road car. But it matches the racing spec, using a lean-burning tune to reduce power to 697 hp, nearly 500 fewer than the roadgoing Valkyrie. This ensures it’s identical to the FIA-homologated hypercar, and it’ll make use of the same seven-speed sequential transmission, with power sent solely to the rear axle. The suspension is racing spec – double wishbones front and rear with pushrod-actuated torsion bar springs and adjustable dampers – and the tires will be bespoke items supplied by F1 tire manufacturer Pirelli, 18-inch items on forged aluminum wheels measuring 12.5- and 14 inches across.

But there are differences to the race car, specifically when it comes to balance of performance, or BOP, items like the ballast and FIA-spec electronics. These have been eschewed entirely, and Aston has specced the cockpit in bespoke fashion for 10 lucky owners to enjoy track days to the max. Here, you still get a six-point FIA 8853 safety harness and fire suppression system, with a custom carbon fiber racing bucket. The wheel is also a racing item, with an integrated display and shift lights so you don’t over-rev the engine.

The 963 RSP celebrates the 50th anniversary of the road-going “Count Rossi” 917K and was commissioned by Team Penske and Porsche AG.

The Valkyrie LM features open-loop torque control where the racer uses closed-loop, and the torque sensors that limit torque delivery in racing trim are gone. The engine can also run on regular fuel, instead of race-specific grades.

“It is important to emphasize that the Valkyrie LM is close to identical to the race car that is currently competing in WEC and IMSA, with only a few minor deviations to ensure it is a non-homologated variant and is accessible for customers to experience and enjoy. Valkyrie LM represents the most authentic Hypercar track experience that is now available.”

A Driver Development Program For Private Owners

This isn’t the first time an automaker has sold versions of its Le Mans racer; that honor goes to Ferrari with the 499P Modificata. But where Ferrari keeps the cars on behalf of owners, Valkyrie LM owners are, to quote Aston, “free to take full possession of their car.” However, Aston will develop the owners’ driving skills with a full driver development program, providing full support and track day setup for the Valkyrie LM.

This “fly-in-and-drive” program will be managed by a team of race engineers teaching owners how to handle the car like professional racers. Owners who indulge in this program will keep their cars with Aston Martin, which will store and maintain the vehicles and transport them to and from venues at which this Valkyrie LM Performance Club will be hosted. The program offers several significant benefits:

  • Professional driver coaches
  • Pre-drive classroom sessions
  • One-on-one driver supervision
  • Data and onboard video analysis
  • Complete driver kit, including helmet, HANS device, boots, race suit, etc

Each owner will take part in an exclusive handover ceremony, with the first track day taking place in Q2 of 2026. Two further drive days will happen each quarter thereafter at F1-standard circuits.

Pricing hasn’t been divulged, but as is ever the case with programs like this, if you have to ask…
