Loaded Corvette Z06 Or Basic 2026 911 Carrera

Although Porsche has never really been known for budget-priced vehicles, it seems to be pushing the limits of how much it can charge these days. To wit, the company just released pricing for the 2026 911 family, and the base price for a lowly Carrera coupe has risen to $127,700 plus $2,295 destination – a staggering $7,855 increase compared to the nearly identical 2025 model. The base trim isn’t the only one that’s gotten pricier, with the Carrera S, Carrera T, and Carrera GTS seeing similarly elevated stickers. For comparison, for the same 130 large as a 388-horsepower Porsche, one could get themselves into a top-trim Chevrolet Corvette Z06 3LZ, which starts at $130,345 with destination and packs a 670-hp, flat-plane punch.

Porsche Prices Continue To Climb Ever Higher

As reported by Road & Track, Porsche added some variants of the 2026 911 to its configurator, allowing us to see exactly how pricey our dream P-cars will cost. Moving up a rung to the enthusiast-oriented Carrera T means spending an additional $11,000, for a total price of $140,995. The Carrera S starts at $148,695 with destination, while the Carrera GTS T-Hybrid is a whopping $171,995. All-wheel drive is a $6,800 option on the GTS, and any model can go from coupe to convertible for an additional 3,200 bones. The stylish Targa body style is only available on the Carrera 4 GTS, where it costs $193,095, a staggering sum for something not wearing a Turbo or GT badge.

Speaking of, the Turbo trims are still only available as 2025-model vehicles in the configurator, meaning a starting price of $200,195 with destination and a gas guzzler tax. The 2026 Porsche 911 GT3 does show up, however, with a starting price of $224,450, a mere $255 increase from 2025, which the new model year’s higher destination charge accounts for entirely. So there’s some buying advice for you – if you want the most 911 for your money, go for the GT3.

2025 Porsche 911 Carrera T First Drive Review: The New Car I Want More Than Any Other

Out of every new car I’ve driven, the 911 Carrera T now sits at the top of my dream list.

You Must Get Something In Return, Right?

If you’re spending between 5 and 7 grand more for a 2026 model versus a 2025, there must be something extra in the package to make it worth it, right? Well, yes and no. As R&T reported, the old model year’s optional “Roof Transport System Prep” is now standard, bringing a whopping $50 of added value to the 911 Carrera. And the 2026 models will receive the latest and greatest Porsche Communication Management system and revised gauge display, which should actually be useful upgrades. But mechanically, next year’s Carrera and GT models are nearly identical to 2025, seeing as they received a significant cosmetic and functional freshening for this year.

That makes the rhetorical question we posed at the top a little more prescient. Chevrolet’s sports car has always been a cheaper (and let’s face it, less prestigious) alternative to the Porsche 911, but the Z06’s Ferrari-rivaling flat-plane V8 and laser-focused handling prowess are very desirable. Although the Corvette can’t match the Carrera’s polished cabin (or vestigial rear seats), we suspect it might be hard for some shoppers to pay $150,000 or so for a car that can’t even keep up with a base Stingray on the drag strip. Then again, Porsche typically enjoys very high resale values, so maybe the financials add up in the end after all.
