Audi RS4 Avant Edition 25 Years Says Goodbye With Power And Chassis Upgrades

  • New version of the RS 4 Avant honors the 25th anniversary of the nameplate
  • The model gets a power boost to 464 hp, and a few chassis upgrades
  • Production is limited to 250 units for Europe

Audi is celebrating the 25th anniversary of the original RS4 with a special version before the current model gets replaced by the upcoming RS 5 Avant. The new Audi RS4 Avant Edition 25 Years has an uprated version of the twin-turbo V6 with 464 hp and is combined with an even sharper chassis setup. The anniversary special will be produced in 250 units, all reserved for European markets.

The Edition 25 model is finished in striking Imola Yellow as a reference to the original RS4. Buyers who want something more discreet can also order it in Nardo Gray or Mythos Black. These are combined with glossy black accents, the omission of roof rails, an exclusive black inlay in the taillights, and carbon fiber touches to the bodykit courtesy of the Carbon matte appearance package. Finally, a discreet “RS4 edition 25 years” lettering is engraved on the rear side windows.

The interior features a numbering plate on the center console, yellow stitching, and matching emblems. The black upholstery comprises leather, Dinamica, and Alcantara, and the standard RS bucket seats with carbon backs can be optionally combined with suede wrapping for the flat bottom steering wheel and gearshift lever. Furthermore, the driver has access to a new skin for the digital instrument cluster, mimicking the white analog dials of the original RS4.

More Grunt For The Quickest RS 4 Avant

Thanks to a new software tune, the twin-turbo 2.9-liter V6 powertrain now makes 20 hp (15 kW / 20 PS) more compared to the standard model, resulting in a total of 464 hp (346 kW / 470 PS) and 600 Nm (443 lb-ft) of torque. While these figures are still impressive, they still can’t match the specs of the rival BMW M3 Touring. Thanks to an improved Torsen differential and new mapping for the eight-speed automatic, the 0-100 km/h (62 mph) sprint takes 3.7 seconds (-0.4 seconds), and the top speed is 300 km/h (186 mph).

Audi RS 4 Avant Edition 25 Years

Aside from the power boost, the special edition comes standard with manually adjustable coilovers, bringing it closer to the ground by 10 mm (0.4 inches) or 20 mm (0.8 inches). This suspension system was also present in the earlier Competition package, but the Edition 25 combines it with some extra tweaks. Audi Sport engineers increased the negative camber on the front axle by 2 degrees, added stiffer control arms, and more secure fixing for the rear subframe.

The 20-inch forged alloy wheels are shod in Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires, helping with the traction on the tarmac. Owners will also receive a second set of wheels for track use, with the sticker Pirelli P Zero Trofeo RS semi-slick tires wrapped around matte black 20-inch alloys. The track-only rubber features sensors for the Pirelli Track Adrenaline system and is joined by a pair of Alpinestars racing gloves. The RS ceramic brakes come standard, as with the RS sport exhaust plus with matte black oval tailpipes.

Both models will be available to order from June 2024. Pricing starts at €142,905 ($155,437) for the RS4 Avant Edition 25 Years, and at €128,420 ($139,682) for the RS5 Sportback Performance Edition. Finally, the company introduced a matching chronograph for the Audi RS4 Avant Edition 25 years, featuring a carbon dial and yellow details.
