Next-Gen BMW 3, 5, 7 Series Spotted In New Spy Video

BMW is hard at work on developing a revamped lineup by the end of the decade, with a healthy mix of new gas, diesel, hybrid, and all-electric models slated to come our way in the next few years. These new vehicles will all be branded under a new design direction that BMW calls Neue Klasse, which will overhaul the exterior and interior look of everything the brand offers.

Now, we get some more clues as to what to expect for the future of the automaker’s sedan lineup, with camouflaged versions of the new BMW 3 Series, 5 Series, and 7 Series sedans recently spotted in Spain.

New 3 Series Details

The new peek at these models comes to us courtesy of NCars on YouTube. The first model we can see appears to be the new 3 Series, a gas version, with what’s claimed by the video description to be an updated tune of BMW’s reputable inline-six gas engine. The automaker has already previously confirmed it was working on new gas engines, including I6 and V8 units, to comply with future global regulations.

For now, BMW won’t have to worry about any sort of emissions punishment in the US, which just erased all penalties for companies that don’t meet current CAFE standards. That could change in a few years when a new administration takes office, but we digress. You’re interested in seeing the cars.

BMW’s next 3 Series lands in 2026 with gas, hybrid, and electric variants, plus a 700-horsepower iM3 range topper.

The video claims the 3 Series being tested could be branded as the M350 (compared to the current M340i), with a mild hybrid I6 powertrain good for around 400 horsepower, and it looks like it will get a quad exhaust setup. This new 3 sedan will be the G50 generation when it goes on sale sometime by the end of next year. BMW has previously been spotted testing a fully electric version, which features different design elements like a completely different wheelbase, and thus different overhangs and fenders than what you see in this video.

Despite the heavy camouflage here, the updated 3 Series Neue Klasse design is peeking with the headlights wedged in a blade with the kidney grille.

New 5 Series And 7 Series Details

We also catch a look at the upcoming 5 Series, which will be more of an overhaul than a full-generation handover, as the current model is still fairly new. The update will simply make the model fit in better with the rest of the coming updates in 2027, a little after the new 3 Series and new 7 Series are said to debut. The car in the video likely has a diesel underhood, though it doesn’t show any visible exhaust at the rear. That new 7 Series also shows up in this video, revealing that it will likely keep its split headlight design. However, the kidney grille will be shorter than the current version.

An SUV First, Though

Despite the sedans spotted in this video clearly being well into development, the German brand will debut its fresh Neue Klasse efforts with a next-gen iX3 SUV in September. That news was confirmed earlier this year as part of this year’s IAA show in Germany, and it will go on sale next year as a fully-electric model. The interiors of these Neue Klasse vehicles are expected to follow the Tesla path of minimalism, with a large central touchscreen, no driver display, and minimal buttons throughout. It’s also likely that a heads-up display or some sort of augmented reality windshield tech will reach production.
