- Known as the Ice Princess XF58, the six-wheeled vehicle blends retro flair with absurdity.
- Built using Studebaker and Cadillac parts, it features wild proportions and a glass canopy.
- Mecum Auctions will sell the one-off vehicle in September with no price estimate available.
Among the most unconventional custom cars ever built, few turn heads quite like this one. Named the Ice Princess XF58, this surreal six-wheeled creation looks like it drove straight out of The Jetsons, yet it’s very much a real, functioning machine.

Constructed from a mix of Studebaker and Cadillac components, the XF58 first caught our attention five years ago, and now it’s set to cross the auction block this September. If the average 1950s classic feels a bit too buttoned-up, the Ice Princess might be the kind of wild card you’re looking for.

Built for eclectic car collector Larry Klairmont, the XF58 was assembled by Richard Fletcher and has four wheels at the front and two wheels at the rear. The front end includes a classic Studebaker nose with a circular grille that looks a little like the back of a jet engine. With two small air slits cut into the front bumper and four circular headlights, the Ice Princess’s front bears an uncanny resemblance to the face of Sid from Ice Age.
Retro Styling with a Sci-Fi Twist
A sleek two-tone blue paint scheme adorns the bodywork. And, just like the flying car used in The Jetsons, the XF58 has a complete glass canopy, arranged in a futuristic-looking double-bubble design. The rear is just as distinctive as the front, featuring large fins and taillights that protrude from the bodywork.
Under the wacky skin, the XF58 packs some real hardware. Power comes from a naturally aspirated 8.2-liter V8 engine, paired with an automatic transmission. Mecum Auctions, which is handling the sale, hasn’t provided details on mileage, though it’s likely the car hasn’t seen much road use.
Flashy Inside and Out

The showmanship continues inside, as the interior of the Ice Princess is just as striking as the exterior. The seats and door panels are trimmed in glossy gold upholstery, while the carpets are finished in bright red. The thinly-spoked steering wheel is also a combination of white and gold accents, while five round gauges, finished in chrome, add to the futuristic look.

It’s difficult to determine how much the car could sell for, given that there’s no other Studebaker like this. But, if there’s someone who really wants it, they’ll probably be willing to pay quite a lot.
Whether you’re into oddball engineering or just want a car that looks like it could time-travel, the Ice Princess is worth a closer look. It might not get you to space, but it’ll definitely stop traffic. Check out the full listing here and see for yourself.
