Mercedes-Benz Dealer Says EQ EV Prices Dropping Up To $15k For 2026

If you’re shopping for a Mercedes-Benz EV, you might want to hold off for a little bit. A Mercedes-Benz dealer sales manager in Ohio has just posted on TikTok that there will be some huge price drops as Mercedes-Benz introduces 2026 models like the EQE and EQS SUVs.

We’re not talking small potatoes, either. These are discounts in the five figures. More than $15,000 off the base price of a new EQS SUV in some cases. That’s a price that brings the luxury SUV down to the cost of a Tesla Model X. The problem is that inventory of those 2026 models might be very limited.

Mercedes-Benz Slashes EV Prices To Nearly Gas Parity

For 2025, a Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV starts at $105,250. That’s $16,050 more than it will cost you to drive home in a gas-powered GLS SUV. Sure there are incentives on top of that, including a soon to end $7,500 federal EV tax credit, but there’s no denying it’s a big difference.

Doug Horner, a TikTok-ing Benz sales Manager in Ohio, posts constant Mercedes-Benz brand content, usually about putting together leases but also occasionally trying to find cars like a Stronger Than Diamonds G-Class for a customer.

Last night, he posted that Mercedes-Benz USA was slashing EV prices, calling it something he had never seen before. According to the post, a 2026 EQS SUV will see its price drop from that $105,250 figure to $89,950. That’s a drop of $15,300 from last year. It’s also a price that will drop you down to near parity with the $89,200 GLS. That’s before the GLS gets its own price change for 2026, and Doug hints in another post that it’s going up and not down.

An electric wagon with 450 miles of range sounds impressive…if we could have it in America.

The EQE SUV will see a similarly large price cut. From $77,900 to $64,950, he said. Once again, that’s a drop of $13,000. We were able to confirm pricing for the sedan versions of both for 2026, and while both are cut, they won’t be cheaper than their SUV counterparts. The 2026 Mercedes-Benz EQE sedan will start from $64,950, down $9,950 from last year’s $75,900. The 2026 EQS sedan will get the smallest drop, going from $104,400 to $99,900.

Will The Real World Price Really Be Lower?

As the post points out, though, the real world savings might not be as significant. The Benz EVs have been slow sellers, and right now, Benz is offering some massive discounts on the cars already. The company is currently advertising the 2025 EQS 450+ for $799 per month (36 months, $10,193 down) with $11,500 in lease bonus cash. Existing customers get an extra $5,000 loyalty bonus. A gas GLS is around $950 per month with the same terms. There is no bonus cash offer and the loyalty bonus is only $3,000.

Horner hints that those massive incentives will go away, and he’s likely correct. Automakers have already been slashing incentives to help cope with tariff-related price increases. And for a luxury brand like Mercedes-Benz, offering five-figure discounts isn’t exactly for the image. Just cutting the price probably makes more sense.

There’s one last thing, though, for buyers who want a Mercedes-Benz EV. No matter how tempting the price gets, they simply might not be able to get one. Horner said that Mercedes-Benz has pressed pause on EV production starting in September. That’s when US federal EV tax credits are set to end, so this could be a response to that, but it could also be a sign that Benz is no longer confident of the future of EVs in the US. Mercedes-Benz has also reportedly scrapped plans for its next-gen EV platform, so these models could be nearing end of life to be replaced by cars based on their gas counterparts.

The Mercedes EQS is getting a new look, but first, it needs a V8 to help it get out of the snow.

Mercedes-Benz USA told CarBuzz that the prices are correct. As well, MBUSA confirms that production would be paused and order banks would be closed temporarily. All cars scheduled for production prior to September 1 will be built. This applies only to US-bound orders and vehicles, not those for the rest of the world. The automaker did not elaborate on the reasons, but did say that “Mercedes-Benz remains fully committed to electrification and the largest product offensive in the history of the brand is just around the corner,” adding that it plans to introduce two new SUVs based on the same MMA platform as the all-new CLA EV.
