Curiously, there are many rare Mustangs in the world, so much so that it’s hard to pinpoint which one’s the rarest. That said, we’re pretty sure this one, the 1967 Ford Mustang GT Zagato Elaborazione is the rarest to have ever existed. Why? Because only two of these bad boys ever exist, modified by Carrozzeria Zagato in Milan – and one of them is looking for a new owner.
We’re talking about Zagato, the famous Italian coachbuilder that has been involved in many creations for various automakers (for better or worse), including Aston Martin, Alfa Romeo, and Bentley, among many others. Its recent work was with the founders of Alpina, creating a wildly different BMW M4 through a new collaboration under a new company called Bovensiepen. Yes, Zagato has been around, but, admittedly, this is the first time that we’ve heard the Italian firm also worked on the American pony car.
A Mille Miglia Participant In 2021
Zagato’s work on the 1967 Mustang GT is mostly found up front. The fascia was given a narrower grille, a smoother valance, and a pair of rectangular Carello headlights that veer away from the original round ones. The bumper was also modified to have the turn signals above, while an air scoop was added to the hood and the car was painted Holly Green. Lastly, Zagato Elaborazione badges were added to the front fenders.

According to the listing, this Mustang GT was originally wearing Wimbledon White before Zagato got its hands on it. As such, its current owner and seller painted it white twice during ownership, until the car was refurbished in 2019. At the time, it was painted back to Holly Green to get certification from L’Automotoclub Storico Italiano. It also participated at the Mille Miglia in 2021, evidenced by the decals on the door and the hood.
You Still Have Time To Decide And Bid
The car now wears 14-inch steelies with covers, wrapped in an old set of narrow-whitewall tires that need changing. It’s still powered by the original 4.7-liter (289 cu.in.) Challenger Special V8, equipped with a four-barrel carburetor and wrapped stainless-steel headers. Performance figures aren’t indicated in the listing, but it should produce up to 271 horsepower and 312 lb-ft of torque, mated to a 4-speed stick shift.
