Porsche Goes Dark With The 2026 Taycan Black Edition

New-car shoppers love blackout packages, which bundle dark-finished exterior trim and wheels with typically monochromatic interior and paint choices for a sinister look. Porsche will dip a toe in that space with the 2026 Taycan Black Edition, which follows the same tactic as Mercedes-AMG’s Night Edition packages (and, further down the market, Nissan’s Midnight trims). But while some of its contemporaries rely on a cosmetic-only approach, Porsche will give its Black Edition some added standard kit as well. Available on the base Taycan, Taycan 4, and Taycan 4S sedans, the darkening also includes a bigger battery, 360-degree camera, and more.

As its name suggests, the newest Taycan variant gets window surrounds, mirror caps, and rear badging in high-gloss black, as well as black brushed aluminum door sills and gloss black interior accents. It also gets the aggressive Sport Design body kit standard, with dark accents on the side skirts and front and rear bumpers. The Black Edition’s standard 21-inch wheels have eponymous accents, but the faces themselves are silver aluminum, oddly enough, and the center caps feature a full-color Porsche crest.

Despite the name, the Taycan will offer all of Porsche’s “Shades” colors free of charge, including Jet Black Metallic, Volcano Grey Metallic, Dolomite Silver Metallic, and Ice Grey Metallic. Furthermore, the automaker will happily paint a Taycan Black Edition any other color, including the legendarily expansive Paint to Sample program. The interior, meanwhile, comes either in Slate Gray leather or a two-tone combination, presumably black and gray.

All The Good Options, Standard

While some automakers paint the grille and badges black and call it a day, Porsche is going a little further with the Taycan Black Edition. While the standard sedan, its all-wheel-drive 4 equivalent, and more powerful 4S sibling all get an 89-kilowatt-hour lithium ion battery, the Black Edition includes the otherwise-optional Performance Battery Plus, which packs 105 kWh of capacity for longer range and improved performance. With the larger battery, the base Taycan and Taycan 4 make 429 horsepower (up from 402), while the Taycan 4S gets a stonking 590 hp instead of 536.

Meanwhile, there’s also more comfort and convenience aboard the Taycan Black Edition, which also comes standard with blind spot monitoring, a surround-view camera, active parking assistance, and matrix-design LED headlights. The interior gets 14-way power comfort seats with the Porsche crest embossed into the headrests and Bose audio, and the Taycan’s distinctive Electric Sport Sound comes standard as well.

Porsche Hybrids Ranked From Slowest To Quickest

Porsche hybrids are all about performance. Here’s every model ranked by 0-60 mph time.

As for the value quotient, Porsche won’t release pricing for the Taycan Black Edition various trim levels until closer to the model launch in autumn 2025. However, adding each item to a base Taycan sedan results in about $30,000 of optional extras and a total price of 132 grand, give or take. We hope Porsche will consider the Black Edition to offer a discount versus selecting the options à la carte – a starting price of around $125,000 would be a good guess if applied to the Taycan, then maybe around $129,000 for the Taycan 4 and $145,000 for the Taycan 4S. Hopefully we’ll find out if we’re right soon.
