This Electrified Corvette Lost A Quarter Of Its Value In Only 112 Miles

It looks like the ZR1 and ZR1X are crushing E-Ray values

This Electrified Corvette Lost A Quarter Of Its Value In Only 112 Miles

  • Chevrolet’s Corvette E-Ray is a landmark vehicle, and this had a $135,915 MSRP.
  • It just sold at auction with under 150 miles on it nor for a premium, but $103,000.
  • It seems that the newly introduced ZR1 and ZR1X are demolishing E-Ray values.

It wasn’t all that long ago that the Corvette E-Ray was the talk of the town. At launch, it was the quickest stock Corvette in history, able to rocket from 0-60 mph in 2.5 seconds. Now, it’s been overshadowed by two big brothers with far more power. That’s not helping its value, as one owner just found out after taking a 25 percent haircut at auction.

The specific car in question had an MSRP when new of $135,915. First and foremost, that pricing includes the E-Ray powertrain, which consists of a 495 hp V8 powering the rear wheels and a 160 hp electric motor powering the front axle. Combined, they send 655 horsepower (488 kW) to the tarmac via all four wheels. In fact, those who want to can even engage just the electric motor to sneak in and out of their neighborhood without disturbing the neighbors.

This car also has some desirable options, including a front axle lifter ($2,595), carbon fiber ground effects ($2,995), and carbon fiber interior trim ($1,500). In addition, it has only 112 miles on the odometer, which makes it practically as good as new.

On top of all that, it’s a landmark in Corvette history since, for the first time, it’s AWD and a hybrid. Despite all that, it clearly isn’t special enough to hold its initial value over the long term. The winning bidder rolls away from this auction after paying just $103,000 plus fees.

That’s a cool 24.2 percent off of MSRP – and here’s the kicker: there’s a chance that the original buyer paid more than MSRP. The comment section pointed that out as well. “What a huge loss. The eRay had such high expectations when it came out. Some Dealers added $50K plus to the MSRP,” they said.

At the same time, it’s worth noting that as of this writing, dealers in some places are offering discounts below MSRP on new E-Ray examples. If this has been a car on your bucket list, now might be the time to snag one.
