Chevrolet suddenly dropped a teaser on us today, letting slip that it’s got some big Corvette news coming on Tuesday, June 17. However, that’s about all the company would admit to, as the teaser shows only a date, a Corvette crossed-flag logo, and a stylized X – perhaps suggesting that there’s another variant on the way. The caption to the teaser video suggests the same: “The hype is real. The new Corvette is coming.” What that new Corvette looks like is anyone’s guess.

Is The Corvette Zora Finally Here?
Given the recent (and glowing) media launch of the Corvette ZR1, we think it’d be rather odd timing for Chevrolet to announce a car that vaults performance even higher – wouldn’t the company want to bask in the great press of its latest baby for awhile? Then again, the automaker is on a wild Corvette streak, building as many high-performance variants of the spicy mid-engined sports car as it can. The Zora seems to be the next step for the brand, which has been rumored to introduce electrification to the ZR1’s supercharged, flat-plane-crank V8.
In the Corvette E-Ray, that electrification comes in the form of a 160-horsepower pair of electric motors mounted to the front axle. By simply swapping that through-the-road hybrid powertrain from the E-Ray to the ZR1, the Zora could potentially produce a staggering 1,224 hp, with four-wheel traction keeping it in check and enhancing the current flagship Corvette’s staggering 2.3-second time to 60 even more. If that’s the case, the Zora is all but guaranteed to be a Bugatti and Rimac killer.
Does X Really Mark The Spot?
However, the debut of the Zora doesn’t really explain the mysterious “X” logo seen in the teaser video. It’s possible Chevrolet is actually bringing out another variant of the Corvette, perhaps one with all-wheel drive but a different job description. We haven’t heard any rumors about a Sterrato- or Dakar-style rough-road Chevy supercar, but that might not stop the Bow Tie from showcasing one anyway. Then again, the X might stand instead for the long-rumored crossover entry into the lineup, even though rumors for a Corvette-themed sub-brand have dried up.

The 2026 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 Has A Secret Redline To Hit Top Speed
Here’s how to max out the new Chevy Corvette ZR1 to hit its ultimate top speed of 233 mph.
Given the recent Corvettes shown testing on the Nürburgring, we’d place our money on a high-performance “Zora” variant, perhaps called the ZR1-X instead. And by the same token, the date of 6-17 could be a veiled reference to the company’s presence on the track – is it possible that Chevrolet smashed a production car Nürburgring lap record by crossing the finish line in six minutes and 17 seconds? That seems a little unlikely given it’s a full 12 seconds faster than the current record holder, the Mercedes-AMG One, and a whopping 35 seconds faster than the Mustang GTD, but us fans of American performance can still dream.
