It’s wonderfully refreshing to report a recall of such tiny proportions, but it’s not a silly reason, like when Honda recalled 20,000 Odyssey minivans because the badge was placed on the wrong side of the tailgate. Instead, Honda has issued a recall for six 2025 model year Honda CR-Vs to fix an improperly installed fuel hose.
According to Honda, fuel can leak from the connection, increasing the risk of fire. The customer advisories on the recall documents are to park the vehicles outside and not drive them. If you’re already thinking this sounds like someone who didn’t know what they were doing was assigned the task, and it was spotted quickly, you’d be right.
An Incorrect Assessment
According to the documents, Honda blames a temporary shortage of production personnel for the issue. The fuel feed hose installation process was split into two separate tasks, and the connection and verification “were performed by an associate with limited experience, who incorrectly assessed the hose connection as properly secured.” Quality control didn’t pick up on the issue, and the CR-Vs made their way out to customers.
Honda then found a fuel leak in a CR-V Hybrid on May 14, 2025, during a production quality inspection, and began to investigate. On May 29, Honda decided to go ahead with a safety and non-compliance recall. That sounds like a long delay, as the recall submission date is Jun 05, 2025, but Honda identified and then narrowed down the problem quickly in recall terms. “On or around” the date the problem was found, Honda reviewed the experience requirements for staff to perform the task.

EVs will take a back seat over the next decade, but they’ll still be along for the ride.
The fix uses exactly the same components as the initial installation, but they will be installed correctly by Honda technicians at dealerships. Notification letters are due to be mailed to owners on June 14th and the problem will be remedied free of charge.
Is Your CR-V One Of The Recalled Vehicles?
An odor of fuel would be a dead giveaway that something is wrong, but all the vehicles being recalled were produced on May 02, 2025, and were hybrid models. If you open the driver’s door and look for a metal plate on the door jamb, that will tell you the month and year it was manufactured, but not the date. You’ll need to find the build sheet for that.
Some manufacturers mark the day the car was originated, but the manufacturing date will be a few days before. Honda has been selling over 20,000 CR-V models per month, and roughly one in four sold are hybrid, so if you drive a 2025 CR-V manufactured in May, the likelihood yours is on the list is roughly 833 to one.
