Over the last year or so, the electric Porsche Cayenne has been through a lot. The German performance company has reportedly been scrambling to move away from complete market dependence on the EV, and is working to refresh the existing gas model. But the Cayenne electric perseveres, with Porsche now planning to launch the model at an event in California sometime later this year (probably Monterey Car Week).
Just like the gas model, the electric Cayenne will come in upright SUV and sleeker coupe forms. This isn’t the first time the CarBuzz spies have snapped the Coupe, but it is the fastest. The electric Cayenne Coupe was spotted doing hot laps around the Nürburgring.
Cayenne Coupe Will Share Porsche’s Latest Platform
The Porsche Cayenne Coupe EV will use a new architecture, called Premium Platform Electric. It was developed through a partnership with Audi, and it sits under the Macan EV and the Audi A6 e-tron. While it probably won’t help Porsche hit 80 percent EV by 2030 like the original plan, it will still be used extensively under the brand’s electric SUVs.

Porsche Nearly Built A Horrifying Cayenne Convertible
The Porsche Cayenne isn’t known as one of the prettiest vehicles ever made, but it nearly got a whole lot worse early on in its life.
In the Macan, Porsche offers motors starting from 355 horsepower (with overboost) and going up to 630 hp with overboost in the Turbo. A Cayenne model will need to start above that lower figure. If Porsche follows the Taycan as a model, the entry-spec unit could make 536 horsepower to start and hit a maximum figure north of 1,100. We’ve seen before just how quickly the Cayenne Electric can accelerate on track.
An 800V architecture should allow for ultra-fast charging. Expect around 270 kW, meaning more time going and less time charging.
Porsche Is Still Trying To Hide The Cayenne Coupe
The latest images show that Porsche is still trying very hard to hide the final Cayenne Coupe product. The bumpers on the doors, for example, look like they’re large enough to be used as boat fenders. The taillights are almost completely disguised (though we like the Nissan 300ZX look of the camo), and the headlights are hidden in a comically large sticker of a fake headlight that calls to mind the headlights of the Pontiac Grand Am.
Even the rear quarter window is hidden. Look closely, and the chrome trim and “glass” behind the rear door are fake. It’s another sticker. Which seems odd, since Porsche doesn’t exactly do daring when it comes to styling.

The stylish Cayenne Coupe is getting charged up.
Don’t be fooled by the presence of filler flaps on both sides of the rear of the Cayenne Coupe EV. Porsche does the same thing on the Macan Electric. On the Taycan, too, though the doors are a lot cooler on that car. Both are for a plug, not a plug and a gas pump. On the Macan, the left side plug is for all three levels of charging, while the right side plug is for Level 1 and Level 2 only. No, you can’t use them at the same time.
