The current-generation Audi Q3 has been on the market since 2019, so it’s safe to say that it’s in dire need of an update. Besides, it’s one of Audi’s best-selling models, with over two million vehicles sold worldwide since the first-generation model was introduced at the beginning of the previous decade. Now, the automaker is getting ready to reveal its third version, with a pair of teasers facilitating the countdown.
The first of the two teaser images does reveal one thing we observed with the prototype that was tested before: split headlights. The pixel-type LEDs seen here act as the upper set of lights, with the main headlights still concealed in shadows. The second image shows the sleek A-pillar of the luxury SUV, along with the chiseled front end, including the front fender lines.
Previous Sightings Provide Us With What To Expect
Not much is confirmed with the next-generation Audi Q3, but previous spy shots provide us with some idea of what to expect. Apart from the split front lighting elements, the next Q3 is expected to be bigger than the outgoing model, potentially nearing the dimensions of the Q5. It will also continue Audi’s signature wide, single-frame grille. The prototypes we saw before were caught hiding faux-intakes on the lower bumper.

At the back, the Audi Q3 will have sculpted taillights, and while hidden in the prototype, you can expect a full-width LED at the back like the rest of Audi’s newer vehicles. The rear diffuser also didn’t come with cutouts for exhaust pipes, which, in combination with the yellow stickers and charging port on the prototype, confirms that some form of electrification is coming for the model, aligning with Audi’s push for hybrid setups.
Mixed Powertrains For More Diverse Options
Talking about electrification, the Audi Q3 is most likely to have a plug-in hybrid option. As this car is closely related to the new Volkswagen Tiguan PHEV, we expect up to 62 miles of electric-only range. Base and mid-spec PHEVs are expected to be offered, making 201 and 207 horsepower, respectively, as well as pure ICE models since Audi isn’t giving up on combustion yet. An RS Q3 is still off the table for American buyers.
