It might be faster, stronger, grippier, more comfortable, and better in just about every way than the 1993 Ford Mustang, but there is one area where the retro car beats the modern one. Teal.
You could get your 1993 Ford Mustang Cobra in that most 1990s of paint colors, but you can’t get a brand-new S650 ‘Stang in that most bodacious of pre-grunge shades. Make that couldn’t, because the Ford Mustang’s new FX Package fixes everything that has gone wrong with the Mustang GT since 1993.
Mustang FX Goes All-In On 90s Style
FX is for Fox. Fox Body. The third-generation Mustang, which ran from 1979 to 1993, brought angular style to a model that made everyone want to forget the totally bogus horror show that came before it.
If you spent 1993 listening to the soundtrack to The Bodyguard or that horrific unplugged version of Layla, this is probably not your car. However, if you were Getting A Grip with Aerosmith, were feeling Insane in the Brain, or maybe even if you ain’t going down ’til the sun comes up with Garth Brooks on cassette, then this might be your new ride.
The FX Package comes loaded with early ’90s vibes. Forget about the teal paint (which was offered in very low numbers on that ’93 Cobra), this is about the details. The Mustang lettering that lived on the rear glass and the dashboard back in 1993? It’s been revived for this new car, and comes on a rear windshield sticker and a special dash plaque.

Ford has painted the wheels white and is offering two designs. One of those is an homage to some original, seriously fly Fox designs. They come with the performance package, and instead of the old 16-inch wheels with 245-wide Goodyear Eagles, these ones measure 19 inches in diameter and feature a set of some of the stickiest modern rubber available.
Bright Oxford White paint is all over the outside of this Mustang. The GT badges are white, and so are the 5.0 badges and even the Mustang Pony logos. If you want even more, you’ll be able to order white-accent taillights from Ford Performance. Standard cars get a dark grille, while Performance pack cars get white nostrils.

Retro Plaid Returns To The Mustang
In the cabin, both the standard buckets and the coupe’s performance Recaro seats get a Fox Mustang-style plaid fabric. The inserts also get contrast stitching with silver and teal (which is actually called Adriatic Blue). Make sure to swap to the Fox Body gauge cluster design that Ford added to the Mustang about a year ago for maximum effect.
Ford will sell you the Mustang FX Package only on GT Premium cars. Though you can get a coupe or a convertible, the six-speed stick or 10-speed auto, and will be able to opt for the Performance package.

The Rarest Supercars Of The 1990s All Had One Thing In Common
While many supercars made their debuts in the 1990s, a select range of models stood out from the rest, as they were designed to do one job only.
The Adriatic Blue Metallic paint will be offered on all Mustangs, even without the FX look. Orange Fury is also back for the first time since 2019. Oh, and there are new orange, blue, and black with red stripe seat belt options.
When the order books open later this month, you’d best not be trippin’. This ride is rad, and if you veg out, you might miss this sick set of wheels. Then you’ll be hella lame. A scrub, when everyone else is bangin’.
