HKS Tunes The One GR Model We Can’t Have

  • HKS reveals new aerodynamic kit with functional upgrades for the Toyota GR Yaris.
  • Track-focused kit includes carbon wing, splitter, and fins to improve performance.
  • A GR Yaris fitted with HKS kit is already racing in Japan’s Super Endurance Series.

Hot hatches don’t come much more exhilarating than the Toyota GR Yaris. Packing a powerful turbocharged three-cylinder and all-wheel drive, it’s a proper rally car for the road. Since the GR Yaris arrived on the market five years ago, the aftermarket has been busy offering upgrades, and while many were keen on extracting more power from the engine, HKS has focused on aerodynamics with its latest package.

});

Known as the Type-S Gen2 kit, it not only makes the updated GR Yaris look more aggressive but also enhances its aerodynamics. For those owners who like to use their cars on the track, these upgrades might be absolutely perfect.

The changes start at the front end, where HKS has developed a pronounced new splitter primarily made from GFRP, or glass fiber reinforced polymer, which includes carbon fiber end plates and gives the car a more aggressive look. It’s also said to increase downforce over the front axle.

HKS has then worked its magic down the sides of the Yaris, developing new skirts, also made from the same GFRP. Then there’s the rear. Extending out from the roof is a complete carbon fiber wing with swan neck-shaped uprights to maximize downforce. Complementing the new wing are aero spats on both edges of the rear bumper, complete with carbon fiber fins.

These additions aren’t just for parking lot kudos. HKS says the parts contribute meaningful aerodynamic improvements, although it hasn’t provided exact downforce figures. Still, a a GR Yaris wearing the full setup is already competing in Japan’s 2025 Super Endurance Series ST-2 class, which is as good a real-world test bed as any.

In Japan, the splitter is priced at 165,000 yen (around $1,148), while both the side skirts and rear wing cost 132,000 yen each (roughly $918 apiece). There’s no official word yet on whether these parts will be available internationally, so GR Yaris fans outside Japan may have to wait — or find creative ways to import them.
