The XPeng P7 launched in China in 2020 as an all-electric executive sedan and a direct competitor to the Tesla Model 3, and complete with an autonomous driving assistance system. Recently, XPeng revealed the next iteration of the P7 with a striking new design language courtesy of the Exterior Lead Designer, Rafik Ferrag, that gives the P7 the look of a four-door supercar. However, it’s not just a visual upgrade, as we’ve now learned that along with fancy butterfly doors, it comes with performance and technological updates.
Recently, China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) released a new regulatory catalog that reveals details of the next P7. We learn that the rear motor on the standard model will generate 363 horsepower using a lithium iron phosphate battery pack, while a long-range version with the single motor makes the same power, but using a Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC) battery pack.

Chinese automaker Xpeng has unveiled its latest EV, the Mona M03. With a claimed Cd figure of 0.194, it’s the slipperiest production sedan yet.
More Power When You Get Two Motors
The third version is the full-fat performance model, using a dual-motor powertrain with an additional front motor making 223 hp and leveling the P7 up to a total of 586 hp. It’s powered by an NMC battery pack, uses orange Brembo calipers to increase stopping power, and features some carbon fiber parts, including wing mirrors and small body panels behind the front wheels. For grip, it will be available with 20- and 21-inch wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport EV tires.

The new P7 will arrive with a curb weight of around 4,600 pounds, depending on model, and the wheelbase is stretched out to 118.4 inches, presumably to add more legroom in the back. Its overall length is 197.5 inches, its width measures 77.5 inches, and it stands at 56.2 inches tall. Design-wise, Ferrag also designed the first iteration of the P7 and has brought a lot to the table after his years with Citroën and Honda.
The Price Is Likely To Be As Good As The Performance
XPeng said previously that it will cost 300,000 yuan, which translates to around $41,600. It’s unlikely to make it to the US, but we know XPeng is keen to push the P7 out into global markets. So far, it hasn’t had much luck. It started out trying to get a foothold in Norway, where 90 percent of new vehicles purchased in 2024 were all-electric, but the automaker only sold a few hundred vehicles in the first year.
