Owners of the latest Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 will get their hands on the American supercar soon. And while they can’t really make a profit out of it – at least not immediately – the ZR1 nameplate has a long history of being a contender against European exotics. The latest model isn’t an exception, and thankfully, a video shows just how fast the C8 Corvette ZR1 is against other 1,000-horsepower supercars from Italy.
We’re talking about the Ferrari SF90 Stradale and the Lamborghini Revuelto, which both faced the Corvette ZR1 in a quarter-mile drag race, courtesy of Hagerty. It wasn’t an easy win, though, as the Lambo immediately caught traction and gapped the Chevy at first. Then again, the ZR1 caught up with the Revuelto right before the line, for a clean win. And yes, the Ferrari was nowhere near the two at the end.

To give you an idea of how great that win was, let’s compare the numbers. The Corvette ZR1 is powered by a twin-turbo 5.5-liter LT7 engine that churns out 1,064 hp and 828 lb-ft of torque, mated to an 8-speed DCT. It’s the most powerful V8 that Chevy has ever made, which we find impressive since those mind-blowing numbers (on a Corvette, at least) were sent to the ground via the rear wheels only.

The First C8 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 Makes Bugattis Look Cheap
As usual, Rick Hendrick made the winning bid. Here’s how much he paid.
Lined up against the ZR1 is the Lamborghini Revuelto, which is powered by a naturally aspirated V12 that works in concert with three electric motors, for a total output of 1,001 hp and 787 lb-ft of torque. The Ferrari SF90, on the other hand, also comes with three motors but is connected to a twin-turbo V8, for a combined power of 986 hp and 590 lb-ft of pulling power. Both Italian supercars come with all-wheel drivetrains.
Yes, The Corvette ZR1 Is Terrifyingly Fast
In a quarter-mile run, Chevrolet rated the C8 Corvette ZR1 at 9.6 seconds, with a trap speed of 152 mph. Interestingly, the winning ZR1 in the drag race was slightly slower, completing the sprint in 9.8 seconds and at a speed of 146 mph. Naysayers might say that a straight-line contest isn’t a scientific method to say that a sports car or supercar is great, but we can’t deny that the Corvette ZR1 is terrifyingly fast, enough to blow European exotics away.

While the Ford Mustang GTD is a mighty performance proposition, its chief American rival is an absolute steal by comparison.
One question remains, though. Can the Corvette ZR1 perform just as well on the track – specifically the dreaded 12.9 miles of the Nürburgring – and beat the Ford Mustang GTD’s record? We’re all waiting, Chevy.
