Stellantis has been in back-track mode almost as soon as it said it was killing off the Hemi V8. In addition to possibly returning to the Ram and Jeep lineup, the 2026 Dodge Durango is getting even more Hemi variants than before, with some new packages added to the Durango R/T model and its 360-horsepower, 390-pound-foot 5.7-liter V8. What’s more, the world’s most powerful internal-combustion SUV will make a return, as Dodge will continue to offer the Durango SRT Hellcat for the 2026 model year.
Special Packages For The R/T Model
One of the Durango’s longest-held trump cards is its available V8 engine, giving it more power and better towing chops than just about any other midsize SUV. That’ll get even more impressive if buyers select the $5,990 “Tow N Go” package that ups trailering capacity to 8,700 pounds. The kit includes Brembo-tuned performance brakes, an electronically controlled limited-slip differential, adaptive dampers, and 20-inch wheels. Sounding as much like a performance package as a trailering setup, Tow N Go is now available on any 2026-model Durango R/T; previously, it had been limited to certain trim levels and special editions.
The other addition to the Durango R/T lineup for 2026 is the Blacktop Redline package. Borrowed from the V6-powered Durango GT, where it debuted for 2025, the package brings SRT front and rear spoilers, black badging, dark-finished 20-inch wheels, and a black leather interior with red contrast stitching and embroidery. The Blacktop Redline comes only as a six-seater, with first- and second-row bucket seats and a two-position rearmost bench. Unfortunately, the R/T misses out on the GT’s red-accented fender and rear badges, but it does get available stripes with red borders.
2026 Is The Year Of The Hemi Durango
The Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat will get yet another contract renewal for 2026. Formerly thought to be limited to the 2021 model year, the supercharged, 6.2-liter V8–powered Durango boasts a wild 710 hp and 645 lb-ft, and despite its high-performance muscle car roots, it also tows up to 8,700 pounds. Like the R/T model’s Tow N Go package, the SRT Durango features the improved rear-axle traction, braking prowess, and sheer grunt needed to lug a big trailer up a steep hill and back down again.

The Dodge Durango Hellcat Lawsuit Saga Still Isn’t Over
The lawsuit was filed more than two years ago.
Dodge didn’t make any announcements relating to the SRT Hellcat today, saying more information on the supercharged Durango would be revealed closer to the start of the 2026 model year. That could be a tacit admission (“Dodge can neither confirm nor deny…”) that changes are afoot for the performance SUV – whether they amount to tweaked packages or more substantial alterations remains to be seen. It isn’t likely that Dodge will invest huge amounts of cash and effort into revitalizing what is now a 15-year-old design, but we still think there are a few exciting adjustments the company could make.
While we’ll have to wait for final details on the Durango SRT Hellcat, the R/T model will go on sale in summer 2025 with a starting price of $49,995 plus $1,995 destination. The 2026 Durango GT will cost $38,495 plus destination and will hit dealers at the same time.
