• A young drive reportedly crashed a newly purchased M4 while drifting in Dearborn.
  • Security footage shows the powerful coupe losing control and crashing into a lawn.

Dearborn, Michigan is home to Ford so perhaps it’s fitting this BMW M4 did its best Mustang impersonation by crashing. The results aren’t pretty as the rear bumper was destroyed, while the driver’s side rear wheel was ripped off.

Little is known about the incident, but social media pages claim a 16-year-old and his friend decided to take a spin in a car that was recently bought by the friend’s parents. The young driver allegedly began drifting around the neighborhood and eventually lost control.

This was caught on security camera footage, which shows the coupe traveling fast and then turn for no apparent reason. This sends the car into a spin and it eventually comes to a rest on someone’s front lawn after smacking into the curb.

The 16-year-old and his friend reportedly escaped unharmed, but the teen was allegedly cited for reckless driving. This appears to be a misdemeanor that is punishable by a fine of up to $500 and/or up to 93 days in jail.

Reckless driving also adds six points to their record, which is the same as operating while intoxicated, fleeing and eluding police, and manslaughter or negligent homicide involving the use of a motor vehicle.

Needless to say, those are pretty steep penalties but even the base BMW M4 starts at $80,100. The car was reportedly bought for the friend by their parents, which has left a number of commenters criticizing the adults for purchasing such an expensive and powerful car.
