A designer fused Ferrari F40 and F50 styling with a Pontiac Firebird to create a carbon-bodied V12 monster

- Designer fuses Firebird with Ferrari F40 and F50 in radical mid-engined V12 study.
- The car has been created around a carbon fiber monocoque and tubular chassis.
- A rear diffuser similar to what you’ll find on the Gordon Murray T.50s is also featured.
What would you get if you combined a fourth-generation Pontiac Firebird with a Ferrari F40 and F50? While it’s highly unlikely anyone will create a weird mash-up like this, these renderings provide us with an awesome idea of what such an explosive mid-engine creation could look like.
It would be the ultimate combination of American muscle and Italian sex appeal, and perhaps a multi-millionaire, or a brave YouTuber, will take this project and make it a reality.

This special mid-engine Firebird-based creation has been rendered in detail by Jason Battersby, who you might remember from the new age Corvette study we showed you a couple of years ago. Battersby, who is the exterior design manager at Jaguar, regularly shares his design experiments on Instagram, but this one stands out as one of his boldest and most creative yet.
A Familiar Shape, Reinvented
While the creation started out life as a Pontiac, it doesn’t share much in common with its former self. It takes key design elements of the Firebird and mixes them with influences from the F40 and F50. The hood, for example, has been designed from scratch with two massive air intakes, large cooling vents, and slim LED headlights. The car has also been rendered with a huge carbon fiber splitter.

The Ferrari influences continue on to the car’s roof where two large F40-inspired NACA ducts have been incorporated into the carbon fiber. Strip away the car’s skin and you’re left with a carbon monocoque and tubular chassis that itself looks like a piece of art.
Battersby has envisioned the car as rocking a custom-made V12 built in partnership between Pontiac and Ferrari. It sits right behind the passenger cell and includes four tailpipes exiting out from the rear grille. A rear diffuser similar to that of the track-only Gordon Murray T.50s Niki Lauda has also been added.
Turning a Pontiac Firebird into something this extreme wouldn’t exactly be a weekend project. But the idea has just enough appeal and just enough madness that it wouldn’t be shocking if someone, somewhere, actually tried it. And if they do, we’ll definitely be watching.
