Waffle House Will Add EV Chargers To Many Of Its Locations

Waffle House, the national chain restaurant known for its yellow signs, drip coffee, and big breakfast platters, is getting into the EV business. The company announced a partnership with BP Pulse today, which will see DC fast chargers installed at restaurants in Florida, Texas, Georgia, and other locations in the South. Although the joint press release didn’t cop to exactly how many charging locations would be added, it’s nonetheless good news for EV road trippers who want to maximize their charging efficiency, jolting their Hyundai Ioniq 6 or Lucid Air Grand Touring while they top off their own caffeine reserves.

A Variety Of Charging Types For A Variety Of Vehicles

Given the industrywide shift toward the North American Charging Standard (NACS), also known as the Tesla or J3400 charging port, the BP Pulse charging stations will offer both that and the Combined Charging System (CCS) at its Waffle House locations. The DC fast chargers will put out juice at a rate of up to 400 kilowatts, meaning they’ll be able to keep up with modern EVs like the Lucid Gravity SUV – good for future-proofing.

Some Of Our Favorite Road Trip–Ready EVs

Each Waffle House location that’s part of the partnership will get six charging bays in total, and like the restaurants themselves, the BP Pulse outlets will be available 24 hours a day. That could mean great things for people traversing the American South, which has relatively few DC fast chargers compared to more EV-friendly regions like California or the Pacific Northwest. And while the number of charging stations has doubled since 2021, more is always better. By partnering with Waffle House, BP Pulse will be bringing those chargers to locations many road-trippers already frequent for roadside refreshment.

Breakfast-Friendly EV Charging Coming In 2026

The first Waffle House locations with DC fast chargers are expected to open next year, so the wait isn’t terribly long. The new network will bolster BP’s existing 8,000-strong charging locations in the US, and given the majority of those spots are on the West Coast, near Chicago, or in the Northeast, the Waffle House tie-in will enhance the charging company’s footprint in the South. Although we’re not sure how many of the restaurant chain’s regulars drive EVs, it’s nonetheless exciting news for anyone who’s had a hankering for cheesy grits and a pecan waffle at 3am.
