Two Popular Porsche Models Just Got More Colorful

One of Porsche’s most famed options is the Paint to Sample program. Depending on how much you’re willing to spend, you get the choice of more than 100 pre-selected hues, or a virtually unlimited selection. For those with money, but not too much, Porsche has expanded the range of pre-selected colors by 10. They’re available for both the Porsche 911 and Taycan, and you can check them out below or in the online model configuration tool.

Leaning Hard Into Greens

The majority of the colors Porsche added are different kinds of green, two of which are nearly blue and hard to distinguish. The same goes for Signalorange and Atacamayellow, which on our screens also look darn similar. The full list of names is below, along with a gallery with each of the new colors.

  • Signalorange
  • Amazonasgruenmetallic
  • Carrarawhitemetallic
  • Arlogreenmetallic
  • Atacamayellow
  • Goodmangrey
  • Ashleygreen
  • Coffeeblack
  • Quercusverde

With the addition of these 10 colors, the total base Paint To Sample range consists of 132 different colors. Of those, 53 are metallic, and the other 79 aren’t. The colors include greens, oranges, yellows, blues, and even a couple purples, or at least purple-adjacent. But there are plenty of very subtle colors, as well as some whites, silvers and blacks that hardly seem to qualify as colors.

Pricing Is High And Complicated

Offering limited-production, paint to order colors is expensive for any car company. Even the Spektrum color options for the Golf R a few years ago cost $2,500. Porsche’s Paint to Sample colors are, naturally, even pricier. Not only that, but the model and trim you pick will affect the end price. If you’re looking to get the most affordable Paint to Sample option, you should pick up a Taycan. The standard selection costs $13,140, and that applies to every version of the Taycan from the base model to the Turbo GT. For the Paint to Sample Plus unlimited selection, you’ll pay $30,020, and that again applies to all Taycan trims.

Paint-To-Sample Is The Coolest Paint Option That Not Enough People Order

Why wouldn’t you want to choose any color you want?

The 911 options get more complicated. On all the regular 911 models, regardless of body style, the standard Paint to Sample option costs $14,190, and the Plus option is $31,070. On the 911 Turbos, Paint to Sample is $14,750, while Plus is $37,180. The GT3 and GT3 Touring are available with regular Paint to Sample for an extra $16,230, and Plus is $38,660. The GT3 RS tops the charts with the base Paint to Sample option costing $20,960, and the Plus selection is a whopping $43,390. Those are huge numbers for paint, but at the same time, even the most expensive Plus option on the GT3 RS is just 15% of the total price of that car with the option. That’s also before adding any other options, which Porsche always prices pretty high. So for someone with the means, they’re not necessarily that huge of an expense, and the result is a far more unique car.
