Dodge Is Already Pulling The Plug On Its Cheapest Muscle Car

The writings are on the wall. Dodge has been heavily discounting the Charger Daytona for the past several months, with some even selling for less than half of its MSRP. In the first three months of 2025, the automaker only sold 1,947 units, with the remaining gas-powered units outselling the new ones. It seems like the end is near for the Charger Daytona – and indeed it is, at least for the least powerful version of Dodge’s first electric muscle car.

In a statement to Carscoops, a Dodge spokesperson has confirmed that the Charger Daytona R/T will be killed off for the 2026 model year. The word “postponed” was used, meaning there’s a chance it could return. The reason for the discontinuation is clear: the company will “continue to assess the effects of US tariff policies.” Of note, the Charger Daytona is assembled at the Windsor Assembly plant in Canada.

Two New Models Coming For MY2026

The discontinuation of the entry-level Charger Daytona means that the top-level Scat Pack will continue, producing up to 670 electric horsepower and 627 lb-ft of instantaneous torque. However, “the brotherhood of muscle” isn’t exactly receptive of the electric muscle car era. And this is where the good news comes in.

And Hellcat performance is only a little more.

According to the spokesperson, the gas-powered version of the next-gen Charger, known as the Charger Sixpack will also join the 2026 lineup, along with the four-door Charger Daytona. The Sixpack is powered Dodge’s six-cylinder Hurricane engines, which have outputs ranging from 420-550 hp and 469-521 lb-ft of torque. It’s unclear whether the V8-loving gearheads will be happy about this change, but at least this one won’t come with fake exhaust notes.

Big Changes Coming To The Charger Daytona Lineup

Dodge’s statement to the Carscoops didn’t mention the configuration of the upcoming four-door and Sixpack Charger Daytona models, but Mopar Insiders may have revealed clues coming from its anonymous source. According to the publication, both the electric and Sixpack models will come with a four-door configuration, which means the 2026 electric Charger lineup will consist of powerful Scat Pack trims in two-door and four-door body types.

Recent reports claim the iconic V8 Hemi engine will go back into production in various forms, and one version looks like it’s headed for the Charger.

Other reported changes to the Charger lineup will be the removal of the Stage 2 badge and the conversion of the Track Pack – which currently comes as standard to the Scat Pack – to an option. But perhaps the most important update from grapevine is the decrease in pricing for the Scat Pack, though the exact numbers haven’t been released. Hopefully, that will help Dodge’s inventory move.
