Man Faces Kidnapping Charges After Driving Off With Dealer Employee

  • A customer allegedly abducted a female service advisor during the handover of a loaner.
  • The man reportedly drove her around for 40 minutes, asking inappropriate questions.
  • He now faces multiple charges, including kidnapping, false imprisonment, and obstruction

Working at a car dealership is usually about as exciting as watching paint dry. But for one unfortunate employee in Atlanta, what should’ve been another average day took a terrifying turn. While her customer’s car was being serviced, the man allegedly kidnapped her for about 40 minutes, leaving his own child behind at the dealership.

The bizarre incident occurred last week at RBM of Alpharetta, a Mercedes dealership in Forsyth County, just north of Atlanta, Georgia. The customer had a scheduled service appointment and was about to receive a loaner vehicle when he reportedly asked a female employee to demonstrate its features.

Once she entered the vehicle, he allegedly drove off with her inside, against her will. According to WRAL News, citing police sources, the woman pleaded with the customer to return to the dealership, but he continued driving for approximately 40 minutes.

During the ordeal, the suspect allegedly asked her personal questions about her love life, relationship status, and appearance. Investigators say he also took her phone, called his own number to obtain her contact information, and asked her out on a date.

Fortunately, the woman was not physically harmed and was eventually returned to the dealership. We can only imagine how she must have felt, being trapped in a moving vehicle with a shady stranger asking her all kinds of inappropriate questions.

Naturally, the dealer called the police. When authorities arrived at the scene, the suspect was still at the service area. Deputies reported that he attempted to flee the scene with his child, who had been left behind during the alleged abduction.

The suspect was identified by the police as 39-year-old Barinuaadum Bariyiga of Roswell, Georgia. He now faces multiple charges, including kidnapping, false imprisonment, and obstruction. Hopefully, this will teach him a lesson to treat other people with respect, and never take them for a ride against their will.
