The Senna GTR, conceived initially as an uncompromised dedicated track machine, pushes the boundaries of grip and power far beyond its already formidable standard Senna sibling. Its 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine produces 814 horsepower, an increase from the standard Senna’s 789 horsepower. Its aggressive aero package, featuring a towering rear wing and extensive dive planes, generates an incredible 1,000 kg (over 2,200 lbs) of downforce at 155 mph. It appears the GTR was initially intended to compete in endurance racing, which potentially explains its extreme, FIA-grade design cues.
The Lanzante Transformation
The task of taming this track beast for legal road operation fell to Lanzante, a British firm celebrated for such conversions. The extensive and costly process, reportedly valued at over £230,000 ($306,000), involved significant modifications. These included fitting additional catalytic converters, incorporating the standard Senna’s fuel system, and installing roadworthy seats. Practical necessities such as indicators, reversing lights, an electronic handbrake, and even an alarm system were also added.

Strange name, big plans.
To enhance its (relative) usability on public highways, Lanzante equipped this GTR with a crucial nose-lift system, borrowed from the road-compliant Senna, and revised the suspension setup for greater give. Despite these alterations, the car retains its savage track appearance. This particular example, showing a mere 125 kilometers (77 miles) from new and boasting a vibrant red, white, blue, and yellow livery, is inspired by the RX-78-2 mech from the landmark 1979 Japanese animated series Mobile Suit Gundam. An optional Lanzante D-shape steering wheel, designed for ergonomic handling, was also installed at the cost of approximately £12,500 ($16,600).
A Civilized Monster
Converting such focused machines for street use is a complex endeavor, demanding engineering ingenuity to meet regulatory requirements without diluting the car’s character. The result of this Senna GTR is a vehicle that offers an unparalleled experience, now with the ability to pull up at a local café.

The sale includes two cases of original track parts removed during the conversion. These include the FIA-specification Halo seats, non-catalyzed downpipes, and original OZ Racing rims fitted with both wet and slick tires, allowing a future owner to revert to full track specifications if so desired.
While the price is unlisted, Senna GTRs typically sell for well over one million pounds. It has to be expected that this road-legal version, with its incredibly low mileage, would be a similarly significant investment. It represents a rare chance to own one of the most extreme track cars McLaren has ever built, now with the added dimension of being street legal – and with Gundam-inspired aesthetics.
