The hypercar study has the same 6.5-liter V12 hybrid powertrain as the limited-run Sian FKP 37

Lamborghini’s Vision GT Will Leave You Wondering What Could Have Been

  • The Lamborghini Vision GT was originally presented back in November 2019.
  • This wild creation has a single-seat layout and a large head-up display.

It’s been five and a half long years since the Lamborghini Vision Gran Turismo concept was unveiled as arguably one of the Italian brand’s craziest-ever creations. That mind-bending design would eventually shape the new Revuelto, and now, Lamborghini has found time to breathe some fresh life into the Vision GT, with a brand-new version that’s been given a bright, eye-catching orange coat.

The latest version of the Vision Gran Turismo was shown off at the recent Car Design Event in Munich, Germany, and it’s painted in Arancia Egon, a vibrant shade Lamborghini first debuted with the Urus SE last year. Frankly, it’s a huge upgrade over the original concept’s military matte green, which, while cool, didn’t exactly scream excitement.

Like many of the other brands that have designed and built special concepts for Gran Turismo, Lamborghini went wild with its hypercar. Sharing very little in common with any other Raging Bull at the time of its launch, the Vision GT has a complex, motorsport-inspired suspension system and bodywork that makes it look more like a spaceship. Its design makes even the Lamborghini Veneno seem restrained.

Unlike some other Gran Turismo concepts, Lamborghini didn’t propose fitting its hypercar with any kind of crazy propulsion, or an engine unrelated to anything it actually builds in the real world. Instead, it opted for the same 6.5-liter naturally-aspirated V8 as the Sian FKP 37, complete with a mild-hybrid system. It’s good for 808 horsepower, which should be plenty to make any sane person question reality.

Found inside the cabin of the concept is a centrally mounted driver’s seat and an advanced steering wheel with a small central display. Lamborghini also imagined the hypercar as featuring an expansive head-up display that stretches across much of the windshield.

It’s a shame that Lamborghini didn’t build a road-going version of the Vision GT, similar to what McLaren did with its track-only Solus GT. Hopefully, it’ll continue to at least display this concept at events, letting the world see one of the wildest models the brand has ever conceived.
