Facebook Marketplace can be daunting to dig through. But dig far enough, and you can find some remarkable gems. What we have here is some solid gold. Yes, we just did some wordplay involving this car’s paint color. So did the seller, since the license plate says “GLD DGGR.” The paint isn’t the interesting part, though. This custom Mazda RX-7 features a wild body kit with some clear Porsche influence, plus an even more wild engine under the hood. Let’s take a look.

A Body From A Premier Tuner
It’s hard not to notice the 911-style nose on this Mazda RX-7. It’s an unusual-looking thing, but considering the curvy nature of both 1990s 911s and RX-7s, it fits well. We’re sure that’s no accident, though, since these 911-style body kits were a hallmark of Japanese rotary tuning shop RE Amemiya. The shop has focused on rotary cars and Mazdas for decades, and has even competed in Japan’s touring car championship series, even winning its class in 2006. Versions of both its street cars and race cars have even appeared in the Gran Turismo video game series. The point is, this isn’t just some 911-lookalike, this RX-7 has styling from rotary royalty.
An Engine Worthy Of The Looks
Under the glinting golden hood is not one, not two, but three rotors ready to go. Yes, it has a version of Mazda’s 20B three-rotor engine. Mazda only ever offered the engine in its Eunos Cosmo luxury coupe, but the engines have been swapped into all kinds of other Mazdas. The aftermarket has also provided various upgrade and replacement parts to keep 20Bs in the world. In addition to having an extra rotor, this RX-7 features an enormous turbocharger. According to the seller’s description, it’s a Garrett GT45R turbocharger. The seller says this car produces 759 horsepower at the wheels. That’s at least three times what the early FD3S RX-7 would’ve made when it was stock. Other modifications include a T-56 six-speed manual transmission, Ohlins coilover suspension, and Ksport eight-piston front brakes and six-piston rears. It sounds like a monster machine, and it also bears a large price tag to match. The seller is asking $119,000, but you won’t see many RX-7s like it.
