This Mini Countryman Makes The Huracán Sterrato Look Tame

A couple of months ago, German off-road tuner Delta 4×4 revealed a Mini that could go almost anywhere. The re-worked Countryman had more ground clearance and chunky tires, creating the more rugged model that Mini itself is said to be working on but hasn’t gotten around to yet.

Now the Delta team has outdone even its own efforts, transforming the Mini Countryman into a Dakar-style rally racer with a wider body, even more ground clearance, and enough driving lights to illuminate the moon.

Dakar-Winning Rally Team Goes Maxi On The Mini

Delta 4×4’s usual model range is most notable for not being usual. All kinds of off-roaders, from the Ford Ranger to the VW Transporter van, with Jimny parts, G-Class upgrades, and even Iveco medium-duty truck parts. This Mini, then, is its second-most surprising vehicle. After a lifted and widened Tesla Model Y, of all things.

The German off-road company got some help for this build from rally team X-Raid. X-Raid has six Dakar wins with its modified Minis, showing it knows its business when it comes to traversing the off-road.

Best SUVs For Off-Road Driving In 2025

If you regularly do off-road driving, these SUVs are the best ones for the job.

This Mini Countryman has X-Raid suspension parts that raise its ground clearance by two inches. The company calls it a “rally-tuned” suspension, meaning it likely has longer travel and dampers that can soak up massive impacts.

New fenders front and rear add four inches to each side of the stock Countryman. It’s a seriously aggressive stance. The 255/55R18 Loder all-terrain tires fill the arches and then some, but they’re pushed out to the sides rather than just being massively wider than stock, so the change should improve off-road stability.

More Lights Than A Baseball Stadium

The push bar at the front doesn’t look overly beefy (or sturdy), but it does help with the look. It will also probably help protect the four big driving lights mounted to the front bumper just above them. They stick out in a way that would mean a lot of damage with a small impact.

On the roof, the Dakar-ready Mini Countryman has six more lights. They’re fixed to the roof-mounted cargo platform that holds some fuel cans and a spare wheel and tire. Right below the lights is a full-width LED light bar, again, if you need to shine a light on the next county over in the dark.

There are some fun details too. Old-school straps for the hood and tailgate add a vintage charm to this Mini. At the same time, they might actually be functional, should you have a meeting with too many trees or rocks on the trail.

2025 Mini Countryman First Drive Review: Expanding The Car To Expand The Brand

The biggest Mini ever packs more fun than you’d expect – and loads more comfort.

The team at X-Raid said that it started as an April Fool’s joke, which, well, sounds about right. But everyone loved the idea enough that the pair pushed it forward. It’s still a concept, for now, but the Delta4x4 and X-Raid say that it could be built. With enough demand, small-scale production is possible. So if you want to own the meanest Mini Countryman around, you now know who to call.
