Having been on sale for more than seven decades, and quite popular over most of those, there are a remarkable number of Corvettes on the road. With so many, it can be hard to stand out, but this restomod example from County Corvette does. It doesn’t necessarily break new ground in the restomod space, but it’s a classic and tasteful assemblage of colors, materials, and upgraded parts. As such, it’s a striking restomod that will drive far better than the original, and it will be a breeze to live with.

Classic On The Outside, Modern On The Inside
County Corvette is a specialist shop based in West Chester, Pennsylvania, and in addition to sales and service, it also offers full restorations and modifications. This particular example started as a 1960 Corvette that was in pretty rough shape. Having decided on a restomod strategy, the shop replaced the factory chassis with one from Street Shop. Street Shop’s chassis all adopt more modern Corvette suspension designs from the C4 up to the C7. This means that this 1960 model now has rack and pinion steering and independent rear suspension, rather than the recirculating ball steering box and live rear axle it had originally. Other upgrades, according to the auction platform where the car is being offered, SBX Cars, include fully adjustable coilovers from QA1 and four-wheel disc brakes from Wilwood. The old small-block Chevy V8 was also replaced with a 6.2-liter LS3 V8 and a slightly more aggressive camshaft. County Corvette says power should be around 495 horsepower. It’s mated to a four-speed 4L60E automatic transmission.
The rest of the car isn’t dramatically changed aside from the paint and upholstery. It’s painted in a very deep House of Kolor Brandywine with off-white scallops. The interior is completely covered in saddle brown leather from the tops of the dash and grab handle to the seats. Body color accents and matching stitching also appear inside, and a maroon top was fitted. For the final modern touches, County Corvette included a Pioneer touchscreen head unit with rearview camera and Vintage Air air conditioning.
It’s Not Cheap
Looking at the finish of the paint, the amount of work of mechanical changes, and general attention to detail, it’s understandable that this Corvette won’t be cheap. SBX Cars didn’t give an estimate, but at the time of writing, the top bid is $250,000. There’s a little less than a day left on the auction, and it doesn’t appear the reserve has been hit, yet, despite the reserve being lowered. As such, this car may end up going for a fair bit more than the top bid. If you’re interested in the car, you’ll need to act fast. Or if you like the quality, and you want to create a custom Corvette to your own specifications, be sure to get in touch with County Corvette to see what they can do for you.
