Toyota’s stunningly beautiful but oh-so-tough to live with Mirai hydrogen fuel cell car has just gotten a tiny refresh for 2025. The changes clearly weren’t enough, because Toyota is already offering a massive discount on the car.
You won’t get as much off of a 2025 Toyota Mirai as you would a 2024 model. A few months ago, those were discounted up to 70 percent. But the deals are still good, with $25,000 down and zero percent finance for up to 72 months.
Green-Driving Mirai Gets The Discount Of The Year
The Mirai turns hydrogen into electricity through its clever fuel cell technology. But there aren’t many places where you can buy hydrogen to put in it, and that’s what makes it a bit of a problem.
While the Mirai previously sold as many as 2,700 cars in 2023, in 2024, that plummeted to just 499. To move cars, Toyota was offering up to $35,000 off. Combine that with $15,000 in free fuel, and you could essentially get the car for less than $16,000.

Why did hydrogen-powered cars not catch on?
There are many reasons why hydrogen lost the sustainable propulsion race: it’s hard to store and transport safely, infrastructure is lacking, and the technology used in hydrogen fuel cell cars involves rare metals which can be difficult and expensive to obtain. Meanwhile, electric vehicle development is more advanced and the availability of charging infrastructure has made leaps and bounds, making EVs the more popular choice.
Toyota’s offers now, via Cars Direct, give $25,000 in what Toyota calls Financing Subvention Cash. That can be stacked with zero percent financing for up to 72 months. Alternatively, you can get $7,500 in lease cash should you decide to lease a Mirai.
The base price of a 2025 Mirai is $51,795 before destination. Take $25,000 off of that, and you’re looking at Corolla Hybrid money for a car that is larger, more luxurious, and comes with $15 grand in free fuel.
Offer Only Valid In California
Toyota is making these offers only for shoppers in California, though that’s probably the only place where you’ll want to buy one. It’s where most of the stations are. If you live near one of the filling stations, this could be the ultimate ride-hail or delivery car. It gets 402 miles of range now on a tank, and a fill-up potentially only takes a few minutes.
Owners are also eligible to rent a vehicle for up to 21 days during the first three years of their ownership or lease. It’s meant to allow for the occasional longer trip outside of the range of H2 filling stations. It comes with roadside assistance for up to 10 years, and it’s a premium package that includes “expedited towing service” as well as trip interruption protection.
Lastly, and key for California residents, you can use the Mirai in the carpool lane. It qualifies for the special sticker that lets a solo driver into the HOV lanes.

For 2025, Toyota has dropped the car’s Limited trim, so it is only offered as the XLE grade. It still comes with panoramic view cameras, a digital key, and Toyota Safety Sense 3.0. The Mirai also continues to offer Hydro Blue, the car’s signature color, which makes the already outstanding looks even better.
