Tom’s Racing Turns The Toyota Land Cruiser Into A Street Smart SUV

The newly updated 2025 Land Cruiser 250 SUV is a tried-and-true capable off-roader; Toyota really hit it out of the park. Of course, not everybody is going to test the new Cruiser to its limit off-road, and to be truthful, most will likely only ever taste pavement under their rubber. That’s fine, though, as Japanese tune shop Tom’s Racing has some upgrades that aren’t your standard off-road tack-ons, but instead are more street-oriented.

Not Your Regular Land Cruiser

What we’re looking at here isn’t 100% new, as we were given a glimpse at the start of the year when a show car debuted at the Tokyo Auto Salon. The stock Land Cruiser 250, the smaller available Land Cruiser in the global scheme of things (the US doesn’t get the bigger Land Cruiser 300), is clearly designed for rough duty, with high overhangs that allow for plenty of approach and departure angles over bumps and rocks.

The new Tom’s Racing kit takes care of that with a nice subtle splitter edge that drops the face of the Land Cruiser a few inches, though it’s not over the top and still looks like it could come from the factory. It’s just a taste of what Tom’s Racing is used to on the sports cars it typically modifies.

The Land Cruiser is capable on- and off-road, but it needs some help with bullets. Armormax offers that help for all variety of weapons.

Flares And Splitters Everywhere

The new nose flows nicely into widened flared wheel arches, with new side steps also running down the length of the body. It seems all parts are available in either black or a carbon finish.

Those extended arches are now filled with wider 20-inch diamond-cut black forged aluminum wheels, as well. At the back is a new rear lower diffuser to match the modified airflow up front and down the sides, and there’s also an optional stainless steel exhaust system. You can also add floor mats and additional Tom’s Racing badges if you so desire.

Limited Availability Unless You Know Someone

Despite the Land Cruiser 250 being sold stateside, it looks like Tom’s Racing limits its shipping to Japan, though we’re sure there are other ways to get your hands on these parts if you truly wish to satisfy your “overnight parts from Japan” fantasy. Tom’s Racing also once offered mods to another Japanese SUV, the Toyota RAV4, which doesn’t appear to have been as extensive as this new Land Cruiser mod setup, and is no longer available online.

If you want an easier time modifying your Land Cruiser in the US, you can always check out the reliable Arctic Trucks kit and pieces. Admittedly, these go the other way compared to the street-focused Tom’s Racing setup.
