There are many exhaust pipe upgrades and mods out there, but this one takes the cake, plate, and silver fork. The Tesla Model Y is an electric car with zero tailpipe emissions, so it doesn’t even come with an exhaust, but one owner in Massachusetts has remedied that in the least aggressive way possible by making a system that blows bubbles from dual tailpipes. The person who created the system, which uses a small reservoir installed in the trunk to store and provide the bubble-making solution, has promised on a Facebook Marketplace post to sell it for $700, including installation.

A Great Business Idea
Unfortunately, the Facebook listing spotted by CarScoops is gone for now, but given the wealth of publicity it has generated, we hope the person behind this little piece of genius goes ahead with the project. Thankfully, a neighbor recorded the first Model Y sporting the kit blowing bubbles, and it’s an absolute delight, as well as a blessed relief to finally be reporting on something positive about Tesla ownership this year. Apparently, it’s operated by a remote, so the driver can pick and choose when to unleash a torrent of cheerful bubbles. According to CarScoops, the idea came from the Model Y owner’s son, and a background in engineering made it a relatively simple project.
“Imagine a Challenger or a Mustang rolls up and wants to race, only to absolutely leave them behind while blowing bubbles in their face,” says one commenter on Reddit. “I don’t think they could recover from that,” replies another. However, another context put forward is in reply to someone spewing black smoke being met with a cloud of cheerful and harmless bubbles.

Addressing The Legality
So, is this kind of thing illegal in any states? Frankly, we don’t care. Given the number of trucks rolling coal in this writer’s home of California, where emissions rules are tight, we doubt any cop would care either. And, unlike cars tuned to belch smoke, this is easy to turn off. Someone on Reddit brought up the idea of it being unsafe for motorcyclists with soapy water on the road, but that’s absurd. What little will reach the ground won’t have any effect. We would worry more about cars with oil or cooling system leaks and people who don’t use their mirrors while driving.

Up until recently, Elon Musk was considered just another eccentric genius, but recent developments have put him at the center of American politics.
If this becomes the EV equivalent of rolling coal, we’re down with this. It’s harmless, fun, and there’s no reason it shouldn’t just be for Tesla models. If it winds up obnoxious coal rollers and straight-pipe enthusiasts, well, that’s a side effect this writer can live with.
