The Slate Truck Configurator Is Live, Build Yours Here

Slate Auto launched the Truck yesterday, a bare-bones electric pickup trying to rethink affordability. It lacks an infotainment system and speakers, but it is available with crank windows. The Truck is actually available in three body styles, with customers also able to select a boxy or fastback-style SUV caps that add a second row of seats. The configurator is now live, so build your perfect little EV now.

You can begin the personalization process by selecting one of the truck’s Starter Packs, which are preconfigured selections with specific options. Choices include The Blank Slate, which is just the bare-bones option. The Vintage adds some 80s-inspired graphics. Lucky 77 wears a custom wrap and wheels with a street race vibe. There are 25 Starter Packs in total, with options for all three body styles.

Or, you can go ham and select all the options you want once you pick a body. And there are a lot.

There are no colors to select. Instead, you can pick wraps and other graphics to enhance the pickup’s appearance, available in satin, gloss, and matte finishes. You can even select a custom color, and if you don’t want to wrap the whole thing, you don’t have to.

You can get partial wraps that leave the front and rear black and a two-tone Black Top kit with an uncovered roof. There’s also a wrap called the Mud Master, which wraps only the rear in red. Snow Dog has a silver side body with a customizable top, and there are three others.

If you want to enhance the exterior even further, you can add decals, like the Throwback set that add 80s-inspired side graphics. And that’s not all. There are 11 side graphic options, three types of racing stripes, four roof decals, seven rocker panel accent colors, six side mirror accent choices, and two colors for the front air ducts.

Exterior goodies include front and rear bumper guards, a spare tire mount, running boards, fender flares, a lift or lowering kit, and nine grille options. Customers can pick from seven wheels styles in 17 or 20-inch sizes, which you can customize even further with four different styles of aero covers in various colors. And you can mix and match them. The wheels can be wrapped in all-terrain, standard, or low-profile rubber.

Inside, Slate offers two seat choices—black and a brown-and-green combo that’s available elsewhere throughout the cabin. You can also upgrade the armrests, center console, upper dash, and the top of the doors to black or brown, while green and black options are available for the storage covers in the dash.

Accent options are available for the vents, vent accents, and HVAC control knobs. You can even select from one of three optional key fob colors—bronze, gunmetal, and magma, which are the primary interior color options.

While the Truck doesn’t come with speakers, you can add them back—or opt for the mount and bring your own. You can also upgrade to power windows if you don’t want to crank them up and down.

The options aren’t endless right now, but Slate could easily expand it further, like adding more color choices to the interior, new graphics, more wheel designs, and an assortment of other aftermarket accessories, if this little thing takes off.
