If You Thought The Dodge Charger’s Discounts Were Crazy, Wait Till You See The Hornet’s

  • Many Dodge dealers are offering discounts of over 40% off MSRP for the Hornet.
  • Base-level trims of the compact crossover are now available for under $25,000.
  • Sales of the Hornet plummeted 45 percent in the first quarter of the year.

When Dodge announced the Hornet as the rebadged twin of the Alfa Romeo Tonale, which is also available in North America, it took a big leap of faith. So far, that leap hasn’t exactly paid off, and dealerships are struggling to move the hot crossover. In fact, the Hornet’s sales are down by 45% in the first quarter of 2025 compared to the same period last year.

To boost sales, Dodge dealers throughout the country are now slashing prices by thousands. These deals are so good that it’s becoming harder and harder to overlook the Hornet’s flaws.

After testing the Hornet GT for a week, we’re well aware of its pros and cons – and the biggest issue was its price tag. On the flip side, its performance is surprisingly good, and it handles quite well. In addition, the cabin is a nice place to be. That’s why we were surprised to see dealers willing to slash over $10,000 off the base Hornet.

One Hornet is currently sitting in Miami, Florida, with an online-listed price of $21,995. Its MSRP is $33,490, which means it’s discounted by $11,495, essentially 34.3% off MSRP. Honestly, it’s hard to remember the last time a brand-new car had such a massive discount. And that’s not even the best deal we’ve found. Another similar Hornet GT, with an MSRP of $40,285, is listed for just $22,394. Yes, you read that right: that’s 44% off MSRP.

The flagship R/T trim is also seeing massive discounts. It offers 33 miles of EV range, 280 hp, and a combined 29 mpg. Here’s a sleek black-on-black example going for just $26,166. With an MSRP of $44,125, that’s a hefty 40% off.

For some perspective, the Chevrolet Trax starts at around $22,000, the Nissan Kicks at $23,000, and the Kia Niro Hybrid at over $28,000. The Hornet? Not only is it a more capable vehicle in terms of performance, but it’s also more spacious, has a solid infotainment system, and offers decent fuel economy. Essentially, these discounts let buyers snag a mid-level crossover for the price of an entry-level ride. Not a bad deal if you can get past the initial price shock.
