Theon Design builds stunning and subtle Porsche recreations. Taking classic 964-generation cars and transforming them with bodywork made from carbon fiber and more powerful air-cooled flat-six engines. Now the company has revealed a model it says boosts its efforts to new heights. A car that is also its first bespoke 911 bound for the US. It’s also the company’s first with a new switchable engine mapping to let you even more precisely customize every drive.

The company starts with the bare shell of a 964 Porsche 911. From there, it starts rebuilding the car, adding seam welds and reinforcements to stiffen the now 30-year-old chassis. It needs that strength to handle more modern suspension components and to give it a level of rigidity that’s more suited to modern cars than the flexible cars of the 1980s.
Aerospace-Grade Composites Create A Stunning And Super-Light Body
Theon starts its new carbon fiber body with 3D scans of the chassis. It then uses what it calls F1 and aerospace-grade composite technology to create the panels. Everything but the doors is made from the carbon Kevlar composite, helping cut the finished weight of the vehicle down to just 2,540 pounds.
Its composite knowledge and fabrication skills come from living in the UK’s Motorsport Valley. The region of the Thames Valley surrounding Silverstone. Where around half of the world’s F1 teams are based, along with thousands of automotive and aerospace-related businesses.
Even the wiring loom has been completely re-imagined. Theon Design says it has saved an incredible 60 pounds from that part of the car alone.

Theon Design Reveals First-Ever 911 Targa Restomod With 403 HP
Porsche restomod specialists Theon Design has introduced its first 911 Targa restomod, and it’s an absolute stunner.
This car is the first to use Theon’s latest engine management. It says the switchable mapping can “totally change the character of that flat-six motor” as well as the settings of the adaptive damping. All with the push of a button.
Engine Modes, Throttle Blips, And Adaptive Suspension On A Classic
It promises to deliver a version of the 399-horsepower 4.0-liter air-cooled flat-six with a softer Town throttle response (and probably a bit less power), while also allowing the razor-sharp Race setting. It even has automatic throttle blipping on downshifts for the first time, a feature that turns every driver into a heel-toe whiz. Sport and Sport+ modes give options in the middle.
The same map modes adjust the five stages of the TracTive Active Controlled Electronics adaptive shocks. Allowing comfort modes for in-town, relaxed driving, and a suitably stiff version for the track.

BEL001 is an exquisite, carbon fiber-bodied 911 that weighs just 2,788 pounds.
Like most other similar restomods and reimaginings, Theon Design tackles the interior, too. It has the company’s Sports Touring front seats and is trimmed with loads of leather. Touchpoints look like the Porsche originals but are billet aluminum, and the car has a modern air conditioning system.
If you want your own, Theon Design is happy to build one. It starts from $590,000, and takes 18 months from start to finish. That’s what it takes to create a completely bespoke car, essentially from scratch. But hey, at least, Theon says, car tariffs don’t apply, because it’s technically not all-new.
