The Mazda CX-90 is entering 2025 with a host of “customer centric updates.” The company also held the line on pricing as the three-row crossover continues to start at $37,845.

The big news is the addition of a Premium Sport trim, which begins at $46,400 and climbs to $54,900 in plug-in hybrid guise. They build on the Preferred, but adopt a blacked out exterior with a gloss black grille, black chrome accents, and black badging. They’re joined by 21-inch metallic black wheels as well as piano black mirrors and matching roof rails. Buyers will also find a hands-free power liftgate and a panoramic moonroof.

Moving inside, there’s a a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch infotainment system, and a 12-speaker Bose audio system. They’re joined by an eight-way power driver’s seat, a head-up display, and a frameless auto-dimming rear view mirror with HomeLink.

Buyers will also find additional driver assistance systems including Emergency Lane Keeping with Blind Spot Assist, Road Keep Assist, Head-On Traffic Avoidance Assist, Secondary Collision Reduction, and Cruising & Traffic Support. The model also has Mazda Intelligent Drive Select and a towing capacity of up to 5,000 lbs (2,268 kg) on the conventionally-powered variant.

Additional changes are limited, but the value-focused Preferred trims gain a larger 12.3-inch infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. They’re joined by a new wireless smartphone charger as well as front and rear parking sensors.

The extra equipment comes at a cost as the CX-90 3.3 Turbo Preferred climbs $500 to $40,945. However, the CX-90 PHEV Preferred eschews the price hike and continues to start at $49,945.

Speaking of powertrains, the model comes standard with a turbocharged 3.3-liter inline-six developing 280 hp (209 kW / 284 PS) and 332 lb-ft (450 Nm) of torque. It’s connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission and a standard all-wheel drive system.

Customers can also get a plug-in hybrid powertrain that consists of a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, an electric motor, and a 17.8 kWh battery pack. This setup enables the model to produce a combined output of 323 hp (241 kW / 327 PS) and 369 lb-ft (500 Nm) of torque. More importantly, it should enable the model to travel up to 26 miles (42 km) on electricity alone.
