2025 Honda Civic Hybrid Is Light On Gas And Your Wallet

Key Takeaways

  • 2025 Honda Civic sedan pricing starts at $25,345.
  • New hybrid available from $28,750, capable of 50/47/49 mpg on the city/highway/combined cycles.
  • MY2025 Civic sedan already arriving at dealers; hatchback to follow in the summer.

Following last month’s reveal of the 2025 Civic and Civic Hybrid, Honda has now shared pricing and fuel economy ratings for the updated lineup. The big news is the arrival of the hybrid, the most powerful non-Type R Civic yet. With 200 horsepower and 232 lb-ft of torque, it has a decent amount of grunt – but the fuel economy is also impressive.

The official EPA ratings show the Sport Hybrid and Sport Touring Hybrid sedans can achieve 50/47/49 mpg on the city/highway/combined cycles. That’s markedly better than the outgoing 1.5-liter turbo and considerably more frugal than the entry-level 2.0-liter engine used in the LX and Sport trims. The base engine is also more frugal than before, thanks to an Atkinson engine cycle and a retuned CVT.

Civic Hybrid Is Quicker And More Efficient Than Outgoing Turbo

Honda has not shared pricing and fuel economy ratings for the hatchback yet. The sportier body style will reach dealerships in the summer, so we expect additional information to arrive closer to the on-sale date. Updates regarding the 2025 Civic Si and Type R will also follow later. Despite the superior fuel efficiency, Honda claims the new hybrid is quicker than the old 1.5-liter turbo and has better acceleration. The electrified models are more refined, too, and have the lowest NVH levels in the lineup. Hybrid models have Active Noise Control, while the Sport Touring adds wheel resonators.

Pricing starts at $25,345 for the LX sedan ($1,395 more than MY2024), while the Sport retails for $26,250 ($700 more than MY2024). All Sport models receive black 18-inch wheels and dark exterior trim, while the $28,750 Sport Hybrid adds heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, and a sunroof. The $31,750 Sport Touring Hybrid receives an exclusive machine-finished wheel design, leather seats, and a larger nine-inch touchscreen display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

More Colors And Interior Options Than Before

The Civic Sport Touring Hybrid is also the first Civic to receive Google built-in, which introduces useful features such as Google Maps, Google Play, and Google Assistant. Front USB-C ports are standard on all trim levels. Customers can choose from four new colors: Blue Lagoon Pearl (sedan only), Sand Dune Pearl (hatchback only), Solar Silver Metallic, and Urban Gray Pearl. Inside, hybrid models can be specified with a gray interior color scheme.

The iconic Civic nameplate has gone hybrid, and it’s quicker than a 2024 Civic Si.

For 2025, Honda has also improved the standard safety specification. All Civic trims now receive blind-spot assist with rear cross-traffic alert. The Honda Sensing driver assist package is also standard and includes a Collision Mitigation Braking System with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, forward collision warning, and more. The Civic also makes use of Honda’s award-winning three-chamber airbag design for the driver and front passenger airbags. Honda says the updated Civic sedan has already started arriving at dealerships. All Civic pricing mentioned above excludes the manufacturer’s $1,095 destination charge.
