Shelby Super Snake Configurator Goes Live For $160,000 Supercar Destroyer

Shelby American just dropped the configurator for its upcoming Shelby Super Snake models, but with so few options to pick from, it’s little more than a short order form for a supercar killer. You get two choices: colors and graphics. Well, after you choose what body style and transmission you want from the factory. This simplifies the process and allows Shelby to better focus on the performance of the vehicle rather than the whims of every single one of its buyers.

The Super Snake is based on a Mustang GT Premium with the Performance Pack and the 401A High Equipment Group. It sets you back around $52,000 on the Ford configurator with the manual transmission, though on Shelby’s website the car is priced out at $59,440 perhaps due to some extra fees.

Options, Options, Options

Once you’ve decided you want a Shelby Super Snake, your first decision is to choose between the convertible or fastback. While feeling the wind whip through your hair going 150+ mph must be exhilarating, our choice would definitely be the fastback model, which saves you weight, something Ford’s CEO says is important for the future of Mustang. It also knocks the price down by $5,500 right off the bat. Next is choosing the transmission, and here it depends on your priorities. If you want to put down the absolute best lap times, the $1,195 10-speed automatic is probably what you want, but if you’re looking for a more engaging experience, we’d go with the manual.

From there, you have six color options, three free and three with an additional price. The free colors include Oxford White, Iconic Silver, and Shadow Black. Atlas Blue and Race Red add $295. If you want Rapid Red Metallic, that adds $495. Then you have to choose between the graphics packages in Satin Black, Satin Blue, Satin White, or Satin Silver, all at no cost to you, though you can’t remove them altogether. And that’s it. These are all the ways you can customize your $160,000 muscle car.

Money Spent Where It Counts

It’s not exactly a Porsche configurator, but once your order is set you can get excited about the wicked performance coming your way. This complete package comes packed with a Whipple Supercharger, a new cooling system, Borla exhaust, a Shelby suspension system, 20-inch forged magnesium wheels, new Shelby brakes, and more. It’s claimed 830 horsepower even beats out the Absurd Mustang GTD, and its looks are pretty stellar too.

These are the most venomous of Shelby American’s upgrades.

The exterior features a widened track with massive venting on the hood, an entirely new front fascia, and a ducktail spoiler. If you opt for the convertible, you receive a unique roll bar while the fastback gets you a carbon fiber rear wing. On the inside, upgrades have been made to the upholstery, and new plaques and plates inform you that you’ve purchased one of 250 available models for the American public.
