The Wagoneer S has its official reveal on May 30th as the brand’s first US EV. In a newly released video, the company boasts about its performance against competitors like the Tesla Model Y. Wanting to stretch its legs and show off what it can do, Jeep took to Willow Springs International Raceway in California with a pre-production model that looked just about as production ready as a vehicle gets before it goes on sale.
Jeep
Founded in 1943 by Wills-Overland, the company can trace its routes to the Bantam BRC prototype created for the US Army during WWII. the company is currently owned by Stellantis and its CEO is Antonio Filosa
Titled “Surpass Yourself”, the video shows off performance metrics of all kinds while racing the Model Y and Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk to demonstrate how hard the company has worked and where it’s headed with this new model. While the figures haven’t been verified by outside sources, they make it clear that Jeep isn’t fooling around at all when it comes to performance and luxury.
Impressive Performance Numbers
Under bright blue skies and the watchful eyes of Stellantis Design Chief Ralph Gilles and Jeep CEO Antonio Filosa, the video shows a Wagoneer S blasting around the racetrack in front of the Model Y as performance metrics flash on screen. The two aren’t direct competitors, as the Wagoneer is not only larger, but also much more luxurious. Still, the recently updated Model Y is well-known and an ideal vehicle to choose for comparison.
The numbers are impressive, with 600 horsepower and 617 lb-ft of torque providing ample performance. The company says 0-60 mph comes in at just 3.4 seconds, beating out the brand’s previous fastest SUV, the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk, by .1 seconds even with a 100 horsepower power deficit.

The company also says the model will have 300+ miles of range, though no charging times were unveiled. Since this is a Jeep, they take the Wagoneer S right from the track onto some light off-road trails. A variety of terrain modes are shown to remind you that this EV can handle off-road adventures, something not so easy in a Model Y.
Equally Impressive Looks
The appearance of design chief Ralph Gilles is a reminder that design was also a key part of the development process. This is an electric vehicle, but at heart it’s a Jeep right down to that iconic seven-slot grille.

On the inside, you have a massive panoramic sunroof, an optional 19-speaker McIntosh sound system, and a dashboard dominated by screens. It’s very well-appointed like most Jeep models are these days, but this takes it a step further and feels worthy of the Wagoneer name. Set to go on sale this fall, pricing has yet to be announced. The base Wagoneer is priced at about $65,000, so it’s a fair bet this will be a bit higher.
