Zenvo Aurora Roadster Is Comfirmed For Extremely Limited Productions

After making a spectacular run up the Goodwood Hill Climb, the Zenvo Aurora supercar is making headlines again with the announcement of a roadster variant. Speaking with Top Gear, Zenvo boss Jens Sverdrup confirmed the Danish automaker is working on a roofless version of its epic Aurora model. The fixed-roof Aurora will offer two versions: a track-focused Agil model with extreme downforce and a road-focused Tur variant with softer tuning. Buyers who purchase one of these will be given the first crack at the roadster.

“It’s 50 of each that we’re planning to build. But then we’re looking into roadster versions that will be assigned to people who bought the coupe versions, so they will have the first right of refusal with those.”

– Jens Sverdrup, chairman of the Board & chief operating officer at Zenvo Automotive A/S

The news of a roadster is pretty shocking, as the Aurora is already considered an impressive machine. It’s powered by the most powerful V12 engine in the world, named Mjölner after Thor’s hammer in Norse mythology. The MAHLE-built engine features four turbochargers, outputting 1,250 horsepower from a 6.6-liter mill. Hybrid assist on the Tur model provides an additional 600 hp, resulting in 1,850 hp total. Now imagine that with no roof. Epic.

Not Chasing Top Speed Records

The Aurora isn’t set to reach production until the end of 2026, so most of its performance specifications are yet to be finalized. Early estimates put the top speed at around 280 mph, but Zenvo will actually limit the car to 261 mph.

“It’s not the point of the car to go beyond that,” Sverdrup explained about the speed limiter. “I’m not counting numbers, I just want a really good car. I don’t care about Nürburgring lap times, I don’t care about top speeds. I care about really good engineering and just pushing the limits as far as they can go. Top speed is worth nothing if the car doesn’t behave in first gear at 10 kph, or if it’s not fun to drive slowly. For me, the magic lies in if I can have my cake and eat it too. This is the ultimate sweet spot car. Performance and numbers are just a side effect of good engineering. It’ll be a heck of a lot more refined than an [Aston Martin] Valkyrie.”

How Many Are Available?

Zenvo only plans to build 100 units of the Aurora, and around 60 of those have already been sold, all priced at around $3 million. It’s unclear if the original 100 number includes the newly-announced roadster.

And your choice of rear- or all-wheel drive.

“We have another 200-300 people on the list who wanted to see if we could pull it off before committing,” Sverdrup joked at Goodwood. “But now that it’s running up the hill, I’ve already had text messages from people saying ‘okay, let’s go.'”

The car that ran up the Goodwood Hill Climb was a prototype, but Zenvo plans to build six more for testing in preparation for the on-sale date in 2026.

“We’re just getting started,” he said. “However, the engines have been tested on a bench for four months already, and we’ve been driving the car for over a year in the simulator. We’ve passed the first passive safety tests and emissions will probably be the big one. We’re doing the full worldwide homologation. With this car, we belong in the top echelons of the hypercar brands. In two or three years, that’s where we will be.”
