Aston Martin has thrown the silks from what the company calls the “most performance-focused Vantage” in its lineup. Debuting at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed is the 670-horsepower Vantage S. This more powerful, racier trim is the second S model to join the British brand’s lineup alongside the DBX S SUV, and marks the first time a Vantage S has been offered since 2018.
Though starting prices have not yet been confirmed, first deliveries of both the Coupe S and more dynamic version of the newly-unveiled Roadster are scheduled to begin in Q4 2025. This unveiling marks the first time a Vantage S has been offered since the current generation launched a few years ago. In the grand scheme of things, this is also a continuation of Aston Martin’s S sub-brand that first began with the launch of the DB3S back in 1953.

Aston Martin has kept the V8 alive for 20 years.
A Little More Power, A Little More Acceleration
Power still comes from Aston’s 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8, albeit with said grunt dutifully hiked from 656 hp in the standard model to 670 hp in the S. In fact, it’s just a shade under the 690-hp V12 Vantage that could return sooner rather than later. Though torque remains unchanged at 590-pound feet, the new Vantage S now sprints from zero to 60 mph one-tenth faster than its counterpart – 3.3 seconds to be exact. Top speed continues to be pegged at a still feisty 202 mph.
Aston has also made strategic tweaks to the chassis to further improve handling and mid-corner traction, albeit not at the expense of cabin comfort and refinement. While rear spring stiffness, for example, has been reduced to improve the ride quality at low speeds, new Bilstein adaptive dampers and a more aggressive suspension setup at the front increase front-end feel and responsiveness. The rear subframe has similarly been mounted directly to the body in a bid to increase rigidity and sharpen the connection through the steering. Interestingly, the standard steel brake and optional carbon ceramic disc brakes remain the same size as the entry-level Vantage.

Subtle Design Tweaks Include New Bonnet Blades
Aesthetic upgrades are kept deliberately subtle, the most notable of which are new, centrally mounted, dual-tone bonnet blades that are finished in gloss black carbon fiber. These help direct hot air away from the boosted V8. A new ducktail rear spoiler has been added to increase front-biased downforce by up to 97 pounds at full speed. An additional 148 pounds of downforce is generated via the new front air dam and the venturi vanes along the flanks. The whole package rides on bespoke, 21-inch black wheels finished with contrast red detailing in a nod to Aston’s S colors. Peek behind them, and you’ll find those unchanged brake calipers finished in bronze.

Hand-made, brass-forged S badges have been subtly placed on the front fenders and the rear deck, while an embossed example features on the upper shoulder panels on the front seats. Carbon fiber trim adorns the dash and is said to save a bit of weight over the entry-level Vantage. However, it’s worth noting that both the Vantage and Vantage S have a curb weight of approximately 3,538 pounds.
Incidentally, if all that seems a little sparse for what will likely be a $200,000-plus Vantage S, Aston Martin also offers an Inspire Sport interior package that adds more Alcántara trim and leather with chevron quilting, specifically stitched to give “an unmistakable impression of speed.”
