Just two days after its global reveal, and with Koenigsegg’s brand-new, 1,600-plus horsepower Sadair’s Spear hypercar has already claimed a lap record. The hypercar stormed around Sweden’s Nürburgring in Gotland, and now, Koenigsegg has video footage of the history-making run. And quite a wild watch it is, too.

Designed to be an even more performance-focused follow-up to the similarly lunatic Jesko Attack, the 2-minute, 55.88-second time set by Koenigsegg’s new Sadair’s Spear was officially verified by British track timing specialist Racelogic. The Sadair’s Spear managed to best its Jesko counterpart around Gotland by more than a second.
You Don’t Often See A Lap Record Set In The Middle Of A Wind Farm
While nowhere near as complex as Germany’s infamous Nürburgring – the Swedish venue features just 41 corners across 4.53 miles – the Gotland Ring has nevertheless developed quite a reputation for itself. Established in 2003, the venue is built on Gotland island in the middle of the Baltic Sea, about an eight-hour drive and a quick ferry ride from Koenigsegg’s base in Ängelholm. Ironically, given the nature of the car in which we’re covering, the track is considered one of the world’s most eco-friendly racing venues. Hence why, in the footage below, we rarely go a few corners without seeing part of a calcareous pine forest or a vast number of wind turbines.

Christian von Koenigsegg’s Car Collection Is Not What You’d Expect
The man behind the Koenigsegg dynasty, Christian Koenigsegg, loves cars. Really cool cars. Here are 10 of the cool cars he has parked in his garage.
In November 2023, the Koenigsegg Jesko set a blistering new record around Gotland Ring – a 2:56.97 to be exact. It was a full eight seconds faster than the next quickest model, a Porsche 911 GT3 RS MR. The Jesko would go on to set a new production lap record around the vaunted Laguna Seca circuit eight months later, so perhaps we’ll see Sadair’s Spear do the same.
To bring proper context to this whole lap record thing, the car was developed just 18 months after the Jesko’s record run. Moreover, development test driver Markus Lundh bested that old record by 1.1 seconds not during a full-on run, but on a shakedown lap. One can only imagine how much more Sadair’s Spear still has to give around Gotland. And we’re also wondering how many established records could tumble should Koenigsegg ever decide to unleash its limited-edition hypercar around the Nordschleife.

More Than 1,600 Horsepower Available With Race Fuel
Just 30 examples of the Sadair’s Spear will be made, all of which are already accounted for despite the grueling $5 million price tag. And yes, Koenigsegg’s fastest model yet is as lunatic as you’d expect. Power from the same 5.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 at the heart of the Jesko Attack is up from 1,578 horsepower to 1,602 hp (or a pedestrian 1,282-horsepower if you run it on basic pump fuel). The increase comes courtesy of a new engine calibration, better cooling, and new air intakes. It’s not all about gravity-defying power though, as Sadair’s Spear has also received a more aggressive aero package, now featuring a double-blade rear wing, an extended rear (to improve airflow), larger front canards and louvers, and re-engineered hood vents for better cooling. The meatier tires mean there’s more grip to work with alongside the added downforce, too.
