This Is How You Make Kia’s New Pickup A True Off-Road Monster

Off-road specialist ARB plans to offer a range of products for the Kia Tasman

This Is How You Make Kia’s New Pickup A True Off-Road Monster

  • ARB has previewed a variety of upcoming accessories for the Kia Tasman pickup.
  • Upgrades include bull bars, roof racks, wheels, LEDs, and custom bed options.
  • Kia has showcased the Tasman’s potential with its own set of accessories.

Kia’s Tasman has been stirring the pot in pickup circles ever since it was unveiled, mostly thanks to its polarizing design. As the midsize truck gears up for its debut in the Australian market next month, ARB, a local tuner, has released some renderings showcasing aftermarket accessories meant to amp up its off-road capabilities and overall practicality.

The company has shown two different kinds of off-road bumpers for the Tasman, each packed with rugged skid plates and recovery points. One of these bumpers features a beefy bull bar that wraps around the front fenders and side steps, just in case you want to tackle a kangaroo or two (we’re kidding, don’t do that).

And because no off-road enthusiast can have too many lights, these accessories also allow for additional LED lights on the front and roof, just what you need when the sun sets in the unforgiving Australian outback.

Practical Additions for the Adventurer

Other highlights include a roof rack and a bed cover. For those who want to go the extra mile, ARB will offer different options for the tray and canopy. An enclosed cargo area is beneficial for carrying tools or overlanding equipment, and can be had in various sizes. For the truly committed adventurer, you can even opt for a custom bed section that adds a second full-size spare, a foldable ladder, and yet another roof rack.

The images show the Tasman sitting pretty on a new set of beadlock wheels, wrapped in beefy all-terrain rubber. It also looks like ARB’s given it a decent lift, making the truck tower well above the stock version. Since ARB already offers suspension upgrades for a variety of models, it’s a safe bet they’ll be offering the same for Kia’s latest pickup.

ARB said that the aforementioned renders “don’t just show what’s possible, they hint at what’s next”, suggesting they will offer a range of products for the Kia Tasman shortly.

Kia’s Own Aftermarket Plans

Kia is betting on the aftermarket potential of the Tasman, offering a range of optional accessories from the factory as an alternative. This includes everything from roof racks and sports bars to bull bars, off-road bumpers, fender extensions, and even a snorkel. Plus, there are various canopy designs and rear bed accessories, which should cover just about every type of Tasman owner, from the weekend warrior to the professional off-roader.

The automaker also hinted at a rugged version of the truck with the Tasman Weekender concept that could serve as a rival to the Ford Range Raptor. Furthermore, Kia officials recently suggested that the Tasman will keep improving throughout a long lifecycle, with the possible addition of hybrid and EV powertrain options next to the existing combustion units.

Australian media outlet CarSales reports that the Tasman could be Kia’s best-selling product in the region, with annual sales projections close to 20,000 units, which represents about a quarter of the planned global production. Given the buzz surrounding this truck, it’s safe to say it has a decent shot at hitting those numbers, especially once all the aftermarket options start rolling in.
