HWA Is Making An Aston Martin Valkyrie Killer, And It Won’t Be Electric

With work done with the Pagani Huayra and other low-volume superlatives, HWA is not a new name in the world of cool and ultra-exclusive supercars. However, the AMG co-founder has yet to create its own exotic that’s built from the ground up. As it turns out, this will be the company’s ultimate step – to create a clean-sheet hypercar that will rival the likes of the Aston Martin Valkyrie.

The confirmation came from Gordian von Schöning, HWA’s CTO, who said that “at some point it is just logical that we are doing our own super hypercar,” according to Carscoops. Even better, Schöning declared in the same interview that HWA won’t be using electrification soon, which means that, if it can help it, this upcoming hypercar won’t have any form of electric powertrain – not even a hybrid system.

HWA-Branded Hypercar Built From The Ground Up

The company’s focus right now is on the HWA Evo, which, after completing its on-track testing, will be visiting the Nürburgring for a public shakedown during the Le Mans weekend. However, the maker of the coolest Mercedes 190E restomod isn’t stopping there as it has already applied for status as an independent car manufacturer in Germany and is close to securing approval.

The genius behind this Evo II-inspired build goes beyond what’s under the hood.

According to Schöning, the HWA hypercar will be built from the ground up and won’t be based on any Mercedes-Benz. HWA didn’t confirm anything about the powertrain, but a V12 is likely given the company’s historic work on race cars for the road. Unlike the Valkyrie, though, the HWA hypercar won’t have a hybrid setup, with Schöning believing that electric motors are not for “a car at a high price level for emotions.”

A V8-Powered HWA Mercedes Restomod Is Coming

When it comes to pricing, the HWA hypercar will likely ask for seven figures, given that the HWA Evo, which was based on an existing chassis, already nears the million-dollar mark. Homologation will be a huge hurdle for HWA, given that the hypercar won’t be based on a car with an existing VIN (therefore no loophole in terms of safety regulations). The company crash-tested the HWA Evo for development, though, so they’re already on the right track when it comes to engineering a safe vehicle.

But before the HWA hypercar arrives, Schöning confirmed in the same interview that a successor to the HWA Evo, another restomod based on an existing Mercedes platform, will be introduced. The timeline has not been set, but unlike the first offering, this one will be powered by a V8 engine to satisfy the request of some customers who scoffed at the V6-powered HWA Evo.
