There aren’t many BMW models that can command seven figures, but this 1959 BMW 507 Series II is one of them. Production of this iconic model was limited to approximately 250 examples worldwide, and it’s rare for one as pristine as this to hit the market. This 507 is chassis #70185 and originally left the factory painted in Feather White. However, in 2012, it was resprayed in Coral Red as part of a thorough refurbishment. The removable hardtop was also given an Ivory finish at the same time, and the wheels now perfectly match the color of the body.

A look inside the cabin shows that it, too, looks almost as good as new. Tan leather adorns the two seats and parts of the Coral Red dashboard. The 507 also has an ivory-colored steering wheel and shift knob, a Becker Mexico radio, and square-weave carpeting. It’s free of any of the complexities of modern car interiors, meaning the next owner will actually be able to enjoy the driving experience without worrying about any intrusive safety systems or annoying infotainment functions.

Under the hood, the 507 is powered by a 3.2-liter naturally aspirated V8. It’s got an aluminum block, aluminum cylinder heads, and two Zenith carburetors. Power is sent through a four-speed manual transmission to the rear wheels.
BMW had hoped to be able to sell thousands of 507s in the US, but it proved to be too expensive, and production ended after three years. When introduced, the 507 started at around $9,000, but this was later increased to $10,500. In modern money, that’s the equivalent of $123,836, so for those who did buy the 507 when it was new, the car has turned out to be a hugely desirable and valuable investment.
Currently, this stunning BMW 507 is listed for sale on Bring a Trailer, with the highest bid at the time of publication already hitting $1 million. If you want this gem in your garage, you’d better bring your A-game. You can check out the listing here.
